Redhawks Head to the Bluff City for this Weekend’s Memphis Tiger Invitational

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri track & field will be back in action this Friday and Saturday at the 2022 Memphis Tiger Invitational held at the Billy J. Murphy Track and Field Complex in Memphis, Tennessee.
 
On Friday, the meet is slated to begin at 2 p.m., CT with the triple jump followed by pole vault, hammer throw, and the javelin throw. Friday's track events will feature the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, beginning at 5 p.m.
 
Saturday morning's field events will get underway at 10 a.m. with the high jump and the shot put. Track events will follow, kicking off at noon with the 4x100 meter relay. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
Southeast Missouri most recently competed at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana, April 22-23 at the Robert C. Haugh Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
 
Logan Blomquist registered a trio of top-two finishes for the second-straight week at the Invitational.
 
Blomquist, a Pleasant Hill, Missouri, native, finished first in the men's hammer competition with 232-6 (70.86m). He also finished as the runner-up in both discus and shot put. 
 
Blomquist tallied a discus mark of 174-4 (53.14m) and a personal-best shot put distance of 59-5 (18.11m). 
 
He now ranks fourth all-time in SEMO program history for shot put. 
 
Blomquist ranks first in the NCAA West Region for hammer, 29th for shot put and 39th for discus in 2022. 
 
Freshmen Marysa Flieg (155-4, 47.35m) and Mason Brock (200-2, 61.01m) both took third in the women's and men's javelin competitions, respectively. Flieg ranks 19th in the NCAA West Region for the event in 2022 while Brock is 42nd.
 
Anthony Forrest finished fourth overall in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.54. He ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference for the event in 2022.
 
Taylor Fox registered a pair of career best times in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters at the Invitational. Fox finished the 800 meters in a personal best 2:11.82 (15th). She also completed the 1,500 meters in a PR time of 4:29.73. Fox leads the OVC in 2022 for the 1,500 meters and is third for the 800 meters.
 
Breanna Miles led the Redhawk women in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish in 24.49 (13th). Daja Gordon (25.57, 27th) and Leanza Dwaah (25.90, 31st) also ran in the distance for SEMO. 
 
On the men's side, Colin Schwab concluded the 200 meters in 22.62 (22nd). 
 
Laila Hardin completed the 400-meter hurdles in a PR time of 1:02.94 (ninth). Brock Wood and Dillon Lay represented the Redhawks men in the competition, finishing in 55.12 (eighth) and 55.64 (11th), respectively. 
 
Hardin is first in the OVC while Wood is third in 2022 for the event. 
 
Brianna Payton finished the 1,500 meters in 4:47.15 (PR, 41st). Justin Splitt crossed the finish in the men's race in a career-best matching time of 3:59.53 (38th). 
 
In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Madelyn Gray posted a personal high 12:03.91 (10th). 
 
Byron Sowerby (9:29.13, 13th) and Clayton Eftink (9:45.26, 14th) also both added personal bests in the men's race. Sowerby is third overall in the conference in 2022 for the 3,000-meter steeplechase. 
 
Seth Gleason (42nd) and Noah Little (43rd) concluded the 5,000 meters in consecutive finishes of 15:33.24 and 15:50.27, respectively. 
 
Hannah Eastman registered a personal-best 5,000 meters mark of 17:18.21 (23rd).
 
Aaron Modrow finished the men's 10,000 meters in 33:42.86 (12th) and Jane Boessen notched a PR of 37:03.68 for seventh in the women's race. Boessen is second in the conference for the distance in 2022. 
 
Dylan Clark was 11th (161-7, 49.27m) in the discus and Clay Alewelt took 12th (160-8, 48.97m). 
 
Makenzie Williams notched a distance of 150-3 (45.80m) for 12th. Nicole Humphreys of Jackson, Missouri, added a feat of 138-6 (42.23m, 17th).
 
Humphreys achieved a hammer throw of 190-5 (58.05m) for fourth at the Invitational. She ranks 40th in the NCAA West Region for the event in 2022. 
 
Humphreys also had a discus mark of 138-6 (45.80m, 12th). 
 
Clark was sixth (196-2, 59.81m) in hammer at the Invitational and Alewelt tallied a throw of 187-9 (57.23m). 
 
Clark ranks 44th in the NCAA West Region in 2022 for hammer.
 
Marshall Swadley posted a shot put throw of 52-5.50 (15.99m, 11th) followed by Clark (52-0, 15.85m, 13th).
 
Jaden Kight was fifth in the javelin with a personal best 147-5 (44.93m) and Emma Sexton finished with 130-3 (41.25m, 10th).
 
Justin Breault posted a javelin throw of 181-2 (55.24m, eighth) followed by Josh Kile (169-6, 51.66m, 11th).
 
Luke Hatfield-Jackson cleared 6-8 (2.03m) on his third jump for sixth in the men's high jump competition. He sits 16th in the NCAA West Region for the event in 2022 and is 22nd for long jump. 
 
Hatfield-Jackson also had a triple jump of 47-11.75 (14.62m) for eighth and ranks third in the OVC in 2022 for the field event. 
 
Humphreys finished seventh in shot put with a mark of 47-6.5 (14.49m) and Megan Deimeke posted a hurl of 38-11 (11.86m, 24th).
 
Miles ran in the 400 meters, tallying a time of 56.47 (13th). Hardin added a mark of 58.01 (23rd). On the men's side, Schwab had a time of 50.35 (20th).
 
Terrico Garrett paced the Redhawk men in the 800 meters, finishing in 1:54.71 (33rd) followed by Markeith Crawford (1:55.31, 35th) and Austin Perkins (1:56.34, 38th).
 
Claire Morrill (2:12.18, 18th) and Erika Mellor (2:15.77, PR, 26th) also ran in the 800 meters for the Redhawks. Morrill ranks fifth in the OVC for the race this season. 
 
Victor Mathuthu and Shea DeGraaf both posted long jumps of 21-6 (6.55m, 21st). Isaac Readnour added a feat of 21-5.5 (6.54m, 23rd).
 
Ciara Potter finished with 18-2.25 (5.54m) for 13th in the women's long jump. She is now fifth in the league for the field event in 2022. 
 
Serena Williams chipped in a mark of 17-11.5 (5.47m, 16th) followed by Kaitlyn McGinnitey (16-10, 5.13m, 26th).
 
In the men's pole vault, Nick South and DeGraaf both cleared 15-9.75 (18th and 19th, respectively). 
 
The SEMO men's 4x100 meter relay team of Schwab, Wood, Lay, and Jackson was clocked at 42.53 for sixth. The women's team of Serena Williams, Gordon, Dwaah, and Miles finished in 47.30 for fourth overall. 
 
The Redhawk women's 4x400 meter relay team of Hardin, Morrill, Mellor, and Miles then took seventh in 3:57.29. Schwab, Garrett, Wood, and Crawford combined for 3:29.48 (eighth) in the 4x400 meter relay. 
 
LOOKING AHEAD 
The Redhawks will wrap up the regular season May 6, splitting between Indiana's Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana, and the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
