CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams host the Joey Haines Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Kicking off the meet the men's and women's hammer throw will take place Fridy at 3 p.m. The full meet schedule will start at 11 a.m. Saturday with field events with track events following at noon. The pole vault and high jump events will take place inside the Student Rec Center.
Along with the meet schedule at 4 p.m. there will be a recognition of the SEMO seniors. Also, fans in attendance will receive a rowdy towel.
Last Time Out
The squads split up to attend multiple meets. The distance runners participated in the Wash U Distance Carnival, while the rest of the team competed at the Bulldog Relays hosted by Mississippi St.
At Wash U,
Erika Mellor was the highest placing Redhawk finishing the 1500-meter race in seventh.
Nova Ojutkangas finished in 12
th with a new personal best time of 16:55.2.
At the Bulldog Relays
Sullivan Gleason was the lone event winner taking the pole vault over teammates
Colin Beers (second) and
Jake Cannon (fourth). Other top five finishers included
Anna Thomason in the 100m hurdles finishing second,
Andreese Ortiz finishing fifth in the discus,
Molly Grohmann finishing fifth in the high jump and
Kennedy Zgaynor who finished fourth in the javelin.
OVC Athlete of the Week
After winning his event with a clearance of 16-6.75
Sullivan Gleason won the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week award. It was his first meet of the outdoor season.
Looking Ahead
After the Joey Haines Invite, the Redhawks will return to Mississippi to compete in the Joe Walker Invite hosted by the University of Mississippi.
