Redhawks Rack Up Personal-Bests as SEMO Track & Field Has Strong Outing at John Gartland Invite

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Southeast Missouri Track & Field traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana for the John Gartland Invitational Jan. 20 – 21 as 10 different Redhawks achieved career bests during the meet. 
 
Luke Hatfield Jackson broke his personal record in the high jump, jumping for 7-00.50 (2.15m).
 
Parker Feuerborn achieved his personal best in the weight throw. Achieving a 21.86m mark for first place.
 
The senior from Columbia, Mo. Serena Williams continued her hot streak this week setting a PR in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.82.
 
Brenden Parham, Xzavier Bartlett, and Connor Moore all set new personal-bests in the Men's 400-meters. Parham with 51.37, Bartlett with 52:08, and Moore with a time of 52.74.
 
Sophomore Laila Hardin set a new personal record with a time of 1:39.50 in the women's 600-meters. 
 
In the women's mile, Katie Wegmann achieved a personal best with a time of 4:58.70.
 
Taylor fox took home the gold and a new Personal Best in the women's 3000 with a 9:58.28 finish.
 
Noah Little also achieved a new PR in the men's 3000-meter race (8:32.57).
 
Four women competed in the Pentathlon Friday, the leading Redhawk was Kaitlyn McGinnitey. She finished in third place with 3188 total points. 
 
She finished second in the high jump (5-02.25, 1.58m), and the long jump (16-11.50, 5.17m). She also took home the bronze medal in the 60-meter hurdles (9.19). McGinnity recorded fifth-place finishes in the Shot Put (30-04.75, 9.26m) and the last event of the competition, the 800-meter run (2:44.92).
 
Anna Thomason finished with 3125 total points for fourth place, Kendall Holweg recorded 2780 points and Tayler Gudde with 2124 total points.      
 
Isaac Readnour won the Heptathlon with 4,594 total points. He secured first place victories in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.23, the long jump (6.87m), the 60-meter hurdles (9.40), and in the pole vault 13-05.25 (4.10m). He also finished second in the high jump (1.79m) and in the 1000-meter run (3:00.20). Then he secured a third place finish in the shot put (8.95m).
 
Shea Degraaf finished in fourth place with 2039 points in the Men's Heptathlon. He took home the first place medal in the Shot Put with a throw of 14.11 meters. He placed third in the 60-meter dash (7.42) and third in the Long Jump (5.90m).
 
The women's weight throw saw four Redhawks compete, Megan Deimeke, Bailie Hux, and Makenzie Williams
 
Megan Deimeke achieved a mark of 17.34m (57-02.25) which earned her the third place medal.
 
In the men's weight throw, SEMO swept the top two spots. Parker Feuerborn broke the school record, with a throw that went for 21.86m.
 
Dylan Clark took the number two spot on the podium with a 66-01.75 (20.16m).
 
For the Men's 60-meter Hurdle Preliminaries Brock Wood was the only Redhawk to compete as he qualified for the finals.
 
Wood finished third in the finals with a time of 8.51. 
 
In the Women's 60-meter dash the Redhawks had four athletes compete and two that qualified for the finals, that being Serena Williams and Sandrea Cogio.
 
Serena Williams set a new PR in the preliminaries and in the finals as she beat her preliminary time (7.85) setting a new personal best for a time of 7.82.
 
The junior from St. Louis, Mo. Sandrea Cogio finished in the eighth position with a time of 8.11
 
Todjai Ross jumped for a 17-04.00 (5.28m) mark in the women's long jump for a seventh place finish.
 
Fellow Redhawk Serena Williams finished right behind her taking eighth with a 17-02.00 (5.23m) jump.
 
Chris Johnson jumped for a 22-03.00 (6.78m) mark in the men's long jump.
 
Luke Hatfield Jackson dominated in his first event of the day. The Arnold, Missouri-native claimed the top spot on the podium breaking the Indiana state facility record and the school record in the high jump with a 7-00.50 (2.15m$) mark.
 
Mason Clough also competed in the high jump, jumping for 6-03.25 (1.91m) for fifth.
 
Sophia Dubis claimed the sixth spot in the high jump, with a 4-11.00 (1.50M) jump.
 
The top two spots in the women's 1 mile were occupied by Katie Wegmann and Hannah Eastman.
 
The pair finished neck and neck, Wegmann ran the race a hair faster with a time of 4:58.70 to earn a PR. While Eastman finished in 5:01.51.
 
The men had one lone Redhawk compete in the 1 mile run. Nick Cimmarusti finished fifth, with a time of 4:25.31.
 
In the women's shot put Megan Deimeke finished fifth and Piper Klinger finished in sixth. Deimeke achieved a 41-10.75 (12.77m) and Klinger with a 41-07.00 (12.67m)
 
Clay Alewelt threw for 53-00.75 (16.17m) in the men's shot put for a sixth place finish
 
Marshall Swadley wasn't far behind his teammate with a 52-02.00 (15.90m) mark for eighth.
 
For the Women's 400 meter Leanza Dwaah finished in seventh with a time of 1:02.56 and Daja Gordon finished with a time of 1:05.90 
 
Brenden Parham set a new personal best in the Men's 400 meter Dash with a time of 51.37.
 
Xavier Barlett and Connor Moore also set new PR's in the 400. Bartlett finished with a time of 52.08 and a seventh place finish, while Connor Moore ran a time of 52.74 and an eighth place finish. 
 
Ciara Potter took on the women's triple jump by herself and earned a fifth place finish with a  35-00.25 (10.67m) jump.
 
Luke Busateri was also the only Redhawk in the triple jump for the men's team. He found himself with the bronze medal at the end of the event, jumping for 45-06.25 (13.87m).
 
Three Redhawks competed in the Pole Vault, placing fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.
Sullivan Gleason recorded a 14-04.50 (4.38m) mark, Colin Beers a 14-04.50 (4.38m) mark, and Tanner Koontz a 14-04.50 (4.38m) mark.
 
Clara Billing took home the gold in the women's pole vault with a 12-11.75 (3.96m) vault.
 
For the Women's 800 meter Madalyn Gray the Sophomore from St. Peters, Mo. took home the gold with a time of 2:17.13.
 
The Redhawks had three athletes compete in the Men's 800-meter. Terrico Garret, Justin Splitt, and Louis Primeau placed first, sixth, and eighth.

The Redhawks placed second through fifth in the Women's 600-meter with Laila Hardin leading the way a new PR and a second place finish for a time of 1:39.50 
 
Erika Mellor finished third clocking in a time of 1:40.11, Miles finishing in fourth with a time of 1:43.43, and Lilly Early had a time of 1:43.46 placing fifth.
 
For the Men's 600-meter, Mark Crawford placed second notching a time of 1:21.88 while Freshman Michael Weaver had a time of 1:23.58 finish in sixth. 
 
The Redhawks had two teams compete in the Women's 4x400 placing second and fifth.
 
Laila Hardin, Erika Mellor, Brianna Payton, and Breanna Miles finished in second with a time of 4:02.88 and the fifth place team consisted of Daja Gordon, Leanza Dwaah, Megan Aubuchon, and Lilly Early finishing with a time of 4:25.01.
 
For the Men's 4x400 Micheal Weaver, Terrico Garrett, Mark Crawford, and Brock Wood placed second with a time of 3:22.40. Brenden Parham, Chris Johnson, Connor Moore, and Justin Splitt finished with a time of 3:28.58 placing fifth. 
 
The Redhawks had one team competing in the Distance Medley and they took the top spot. The team consisted of Hannah Eastman, Madalyn Gray, Katie Wegmann, and Alayna Sparr. The team finished at the 13:33.64 mark.
 
The Redhawks had three finishers in the top seven for the 200 meter dash. 
 
Leanza Dwaah topped all Redhawks with a third place finish (26.30). 
 
Daja Gordon finished fifth with a time of 26.41 and Serena Williams crossed the line at 26.58 for seventh place.
 
In the men's 200-meter the Redhawks' Chris Johnson and Brenden Parham finished back to back, with seventh and eighth place finishes. 
 
Johnson crossed the line in 22.64, while Parham was right behind him, finishing in 22.76.
 
Taylor Fox led the charge in the women's 3000. The junior found herself at the top of the podium when she crossed the line at 9:58.28. With this time she achieved a new personal best.
 
Layla Fliege also ran the 3000-meter for a seventh place finish.
 
In the men's 3000-meters Noah Little also broke his PR when he finished in third with a time of 8:32.57.
 
The women had four compete in the 5000-meter race and all placed in the top five
 
Lexie Dockstader and Mackenzie Pugh finished first and second with times of 18:39.19 and 18:50.00.
 
Sarah Russom and Kayla Vogelsang crossed the line at 19:04.28 and 19:17.01 for fourth and fifth.
 
Seth Gleason won the men's 5000-meter run with a 15:13.58 finishing time.
Aaron Modrow and Clayton Eftink ran the race in 15:30.51 and 15:31.73 for third and fourth, respectively.
 
Looking Ahead
The Southeast Missouri Track and Field will be on the road again for their next meet in Bloomington, Indiana for the Indiana Relays. The meet will be next Friday January 27 and Saturday January 28.
