FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. – The Southeast Missouri track and field squads wrapped up another big weekend.
Most of the teams were at the Jim McConnell Invitational in Arkansas, while the throwers competed at Simpson College in Iowa and the multi-event athletes were in Louisville.
At Louisville,
Anna Thomason highlighted SEMO finishers earning second place in the heptathlon. After day one she totaled 3248 points and after the final three events Friday she combined for 5406 points. This is her new career best and she moves closer to the school record.
Also competing at the meet Luis Schladlich placed fourth in the high jump clearing 6-2 and sixth in the javelin reaching 148-3.
Kannon Harlow also competed in the javelin and hit a 134-8 mark.
At Simpson,
Quinton Maxwell was the lone Redhawk in the men's shot put and placed seventh with a throw of 48-7.5. Maxwell also competed in the men's discus where he finished 13
th with a distance of 143-0.
Zavier Winton also competed in the discus and placed third overall with a mark of 165-0.
In the women's throws events
Andreese Ortiz placed third in the discus (149-8) and fourth in the shot put (43-5).
Alyssa Repke finished fourth in the discus (145-4) and 11
th in the (37-9.5).
At the John McDonnell Invite Leading the way for SEMO was a dominant showing in the men's 3,000 meters, where
Nick Cimmarusti captured the event title in 8:57.40, followed closely by
Cade McCadams in second (9:03.46) and
Zach Thoman in 9:05.06. In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Jacob Blassingame delivered one of the top performances of the meet, finishing second in a personal-best 9:09.90, which also ranks ninth in school history.
Myles Thornburg added another podium finish with a third-place run and PR of 9:22.14. The Redhawks also saw success in the men's invitational 800m, where
Cole Reinders clocked a fast 1:49.80, while
Tyler Anderson added a personal-best 1:50.62 in the open section.
SEMO continued to stack strong finishes across the board. The men's 4x400m relay team placed third in 3:25.33, and
Jackson Witvoet secured a sixth-place finish in the javelin (172-5). In the high jump, both
John Hartmann and
Matt Pluff cleared 6-7 to finish sixth and seventh, respectively, while
Molly Grohmann placed fourth in the women's high jump (5-5). Madalyn Gray led the women's 800m group with an eighth-place finish (2:11.45), followed closely by
Erika Mellor in ninth (2:11.69).
Kayla Vogelsang (5th),
Daphne Bishop (7th), and
Brooklyn Bender (9th) all recorded top-10 finishes in the women's 3,000 meters.
Several Redhawks also notched personal bests and solid individual efforts throughout the meet.
Jon'David White recorded a PR of 11.17 in the 100m and added a time of 14.31 in the 110m hurdles. Anderson's PR in the 800m was joined by Blassingame and Thornburg's steeplechase marks as key highlights.
Kani Smith (49.08 in the 400m),
Jonas Davis (21.16 in the 200m), and
Evan Fuller (3:52.37 in the 1500m) all contributed strong performances, while
Alaina Lester competed in multiple events, including the triple jump (39-10.5) and 400m (57.27).
The Kip Janvrin Open will conclude Saturday with the men's and women's hammer throw.
