CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Southeast Missouri Baseball (9-7) secured a decisive 9-2 victory over Milwaukee (2-12) on Saturday at Capaha Field. The Redhawk offense tallied 11 hits, including three doubles and a home run, while its pitching staff recorded nine strikeouts over nine innings.
Milwaukee took an early lead in the third inning when Tristan Ellis scored on a single by Dominic Kibler, putting them ahead 1-0. Southeast Missouri responded in the fourth inning with a home run by
Ryan Lopetegui.
Carson Schrack then scored on a sacrifice fly by
Moises Rosario, and
Joe Terranova crossed home after being driven in on a series of plays, bringing the score to 3-1 in favor of Southeast Missouri by the end of the fourth.
In the fifth inning, Milwaukee narrowed the gap as Dylan O'Connell tripled and scored on a ground out, making it 3-2. SEMO answered back with
Brooks Kettering walking, stealing second, and later scoring on a sacrifice fly by
Caleb Klein, extending their lead to 4-2.
The sixth inning saw Southeast Missouri further stretch their advantage. Schrack singled and eventually scored on a Kettering double. Kettering himself scored on a wild pitch, widening the lead to 6-2.
Southeast Missouri's offense continued in the seventh inning. Sullivan was hit by a pitch and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Schrack.
Logan Yule then singled to bring in another run, and Rosario's groundout allowed a third run to score, pushing the lead to 9-2.
Milwaukee was unable to score in the later innings, and Southeast Missouri maintained its lead, ultimately securing a 9-2 victory.
