CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Brianna Dixon broke the SEMO high jump record and 100m hurdle record during day two of the Memphis Invite. The Redhawks had another succsessful day at the Billy J. Murphy Track and Field Complex with six first place finishes, 29 top five performances and 18 new personal records set.
Double The Record
Dixon broke the SEMO 100m hurdle record and the high jump record with a time of 13.82 and a jump of 5' 10.5 for fourth and first place. The freshman from Rantoul, Ill. broke the previous records of 13.84 and 5' 9" set by Candace Williams in 1981 and Courtney Haman in 2003.
Second To None
The men's 4x100m team of
Momoh Brema,
Brenden Parham,
Connor Moore, and
Tanner Koontz crossed the line at 42.58 to take the gold.
The women's triple jump saw
Serena Williams place first. Williams jumped the distance of 38' 7.75" (11.78m).Â
With a time of 24.15,
Sydney Burdine achieved a new personal record in the 200m while standing alone atop the podium.
Jacob Blassingame ran the 3000-meter Steeplechase in 10:29.90 to take first in the event.
The men's 4x400m squad of Mark Crawford,
Terrico Garrett,
Micah Grawer and
Louis Primeau took home the trophy with a time of 3:19.86.
New PRs Set
The silver medal was claimed by
Paden Lewis with a distance of 57' 11.75" (New PR).
The Redhawk jumping duo of
Mason Clough and
Isaac Readnour jumped over heights of 6' 8.75" (4th) and 6' 2.75" (5th) for new personal bests.
In the 100m hurdle race
Clara Billing and
Tayler Gudde posted finishing PR times of 14.15 (6th) and 15.67 (10th).
Trystan Wright crossed the finish line for a new personal best time of 15.12 (4th) in the 110m hurdle race.
Crawford achieved a new personal record in the 400m with a time of 50.76 (8th).
With sixth place finishes
Sydney Burdine and Moore achieved new PR times of 11.94 and 10.89 in the 100m
Molly Grohmann jumped over a height of 5' 9.25" for a new personal best and second in the SEMO record books.
Aarion Jackson placed second in the men's triple jump and recorded a new PR with a jump of 46' 7.5" (14.21m).Â
With times of 24.46 (4th) and 25.19 (6th),
Leanza Dwaah and Dixon both recorded new PRs in the 200m.
Moore and Parham ran the 200m in 21.76 (6th) and 21.93 (8th) for new PRs.
Top Five PerformersÂ
In the women's shot put
Alivia Busch and
Bailee Hux threw for marks of 44' 7" (2nd) and 41' 2.5" (3rd).
With a mark of 54' 2.75" and 153' 4"
Marshall Swadley placed fourth in the shot put and the discus throw.
The women's squad of Williams, Burdine, Dwaah, and
Breanna Miles finished the 4x100m relay with a time of 46.28 (2nd)
Marcus Gordon Jr. jumped over hurdles for 100m in a time of 14.83 for second.
The women's 400-meter saw Miles take the silver (56.22) and
Erika Mellor place fifth (59.64).
Parham raced across the finish line in 49.05 to claim third place in the 400m dash.
After the 100m race ended Dwaah was wearing bronze with a time of 11.86.
In the women's high jump
Kaitlyn McGinnitey placed fourth with a jump of 5' 3".
Brema ran the 400-meter Hurdle in 57.41 for fourth place.
Piper Klinger and Busch both competed in the women's discus. Klinger placed second with a throw of 145' 0" and Busch had a mark of 138' 9" placing fourth.Â
The women's 4x100m team of Miles, Burdine, Dwaah and Mellor ran the race in 3:50.83 for second.
Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will be split next weekend as some will go to the Billy Hayes Invite in Bloomington, In. and others will head to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Arkansas Twilight meet.
