ATLANTA, Ga. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field squads opened the Georgia Tech Invitational setting multiple personal best marks and facing tough competition.
Leading the way was
Kennedy Zgaynor, who captured a third-place finish in the women's javelin with a throw of 148-3.
Zavier Winton also delivered a strong performance in the men's hammer throw, placing sixth with a personal-best mark of 196-9. On the women's side of the hammer,
Alyssa Repke (7th, 171-11) and Ellie Rhinehart (10th, 168-10) both secured top 10 finishes, while
Andreese Ortiz added an 11th-place finish with a personal-best toss of 167-7.
Several athletes contributed notable finishes just outside the podium.
Ava Dumke placed sixth in the women's javelin (139-8), while
Jon'David White took seventh in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.46.
Ceyda Bayur continued her strong season in the distance events, clocking a personal-best 4:43.75 in the women's 1500m. In the men's hammer,
Mark Goldman added a 16th-place finish (165-11), and
Bailie Hux placed 15th in the women's hammer (165-1).
On the track, the Redhawks showed depth in the sprints.
Jonas Davis (10.73) and
Jackson Witvoet (10.95) each recorded personal-best times in the men's 100m, while
Jasmine McClelland also notched a PR in the women's 100m (12.14).
Makayla Jones (12.12) and
Alaina Lester (12.20) rounded out a strong showing in the event. In the distance events,
Myles Thornburg posted a time of 14:53.21 in the men's 5,000m.
In the field events,
Andreese Ortiz added an 11th-place finish in the women's shot put (42-2.75), while
Mark Goldman (49-1) and
Quinton Maxwell (47-7) competed in the men's shot put.
Nova Ojutkangas competed at the Wake Forest Invitational Thursday evening competing in the 10,000m and she finished 12
th in 35:39.11.
SEMO will wrap up the Georgia Tech Invitational Saturday.
