CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – For the second week in a row the Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams swept the male Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards.
Zavier Winton,
Cole Reinders and
Jake Cannon were honored.
Winton, a freshman from Troy Missouri, was cited for Male Freshman of the Week. He set a personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 195' 11" in a fifth-place finish at the Joe Walker Invite. This mark also moves him into the top 10 in school history in the event. He also finished runner up in the discus with a throw of 168' 2".
Reinders a senior from Sarnia, Ontario, secured Male Track Athlete of the Week. This marks the second straight week he received this honor. At the Joe Walker Invite he had a pair of top four finishes with a fourth-place finish in the 800m where he set a personal best time and is now the second fastest in program history in the event with a time of 1:48.37. This is Reinders second consecutive week winning the award.
Cannon, a sophomore from Mount Juliet, Tennessee, received Male Field Athlete of the Week. He finished second in the pole vault with a new personal best mark clearing 17' 0" at the Joe Walker Invite. He moves into a tie for fourth in program history in the event.
The squads will be back competing at the Georgia Tech Invitational Friday and Saturday.
