Capaha Field is the historic home ballpark for the Southeast Missouri baseball team. It is located just two blocks west of the university's main campus and is operated by the City of Cape Girardeau. SEMO started playing at Capaha Field in 1959 and shares the facility with the summer collegiate wood bat Prospect League member Cape Catfish. The baseball program benefits from an adjacent state-of-the-art 4,000-square foot indoor hitting and practice facility. It is equipped with climate control and HitTrax technology and gives players round-the-clock access to data-driven swing and pitch analysis regardless of weather. In Summer 2019, lights, chairback seating, a paved walking plaza and home run deck in right field were added. Prior to that, synthetic turf, bullpens and a scoreboard with video capabilities were installed. The Capaha Field press box, completed in 2006, is equipped with televisions, kitchen/lounge areas and a restroom, providing media and gameday staff an excellent view behind home plate. SEMO consistently leads the Ohio Valley Conference in baseball attendance as thousands of fans have flocked to Capaha Field to watch the Redhawks over the years. Capaha Field is nestled in historic Capaha Park, the oldest in Cape Girardeau’s park system. In addition to the ballpark, it has a pond, band shell, rose garden, splash pad, disc golf course, picnic areas and playgrounds.
