COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Southeast Missouri (27-12, 9-5 OVC) fell to Tennessee Tech (13-26, 3-11 OVC) with a final score of 10-4 on Saturday at Quillen Field at Bush Stadium. Despite the loss, Southeast Missouri tallied 10 hits, including a home run, but was unable to overcome Tennessee Tech's 17-hit performance.
The Redhawks opened scoring in the second inning with an RBI single up the middle by
Tank Sims, bringing
Andrew Ramirez home after his double down the right field line. The Redhawks led 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second.
Tennessee Tech responded in the third inning, capitalizing on a pair of unearned runs. Tyler Bennett's RBI single scored Cade Fuller, who had doubled earlier, and Jackson Rooker's double brought Bennett around, making it 2-1 in favor of the Golden Eagles through three innings.
In the fourth inning, SEMO regained the lead with Sims hitting a two-run homer, scoring Ramirez who singled, pushing the Redhawks ahead 3-2.
Tennessee Tech took command in the fifth inning, scoring five runs. Jackson Rooker's RBI single and Manny Garza's two-run home run contributed to the scoring, along with runs on errors and a single by Cade Fuller, giving the Golden Eagles a 7-3 lead.
In the eighth inning,
Brooks Kettering scored from second on
Cal Sullivan's RBI single. Tennessee Tech extended its lead with a Bennett solo homer and runs from a series of singles and a sacrifice fly, leading 10-4.
The final score was Tennessee Tech 10, Southeast Missouri 4.
