Redhawks End Illini Challenge with Strong Day Two

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Taylor Fox and Terrico Garrett both place first in the men and women 800-meter as Southeast Missouri Track and Field finish day two of the Illini Challenge. SEMO recorded five new personal bests, six top-three performances, and 36 top-ten finishes.

Grabbing the Gold
Taylor Fox took home the gold medal in the women's 800-meter race. Fox placed first crossing the finish line in 2:12.26

Terrico Garrett finished in first place in the men's 800-meter, recording a time of 1:51.42.  

Day Two PR's
Kayla Vogelsang crossed the line in 5:23.25 during the women's mile race. Vogelsangs time was fast to earn her a new PR. 

The men's mile saw Noah Little record a new personal best and a bronze medal with his time of 4:19.32.  

Marcus Gordon Jr. notched a new PR in the men's 60-meter hurdle finals, finishing in seventh place with a time of 8.31. 

Kendall Holweg recorded a new personal best in the women's 400-meter race, crossing the finish line in 1:02.42.

Micah Grawer recorded a PR, finishing in tenth place with a time of 1:58.87 in the men's 800-meter. 

Podium Places
Luke Hatfield-Jackson places third in the triple jump with a jump of 47' 1.50" (14.36m).

Justin Splitt took home the bronze medal in the men's 800-meter with a time of 1:54.57.

Clara Billing had her season high in the women's pole vault. Billing took third place, getting to the height of 12' 10.25" (3.92-meters).

Breanna Miles recorded a third place finish in the 400-meter with a season best time of 56.46.

Top-Ten Performances 
The Senior Hannah Eastman placed fourth in the women's mile with a time of 5:04.48.

Breanna Miles posted a time of 7.51 to take fourth place in the women's 60-meter dash finals. 

During the women's 60-meter hurdle finals, Brianna Dixion crossed the line at 8.81 for a fourth place finish.

In the women's 400-meter Laila Hardin ran a time of 57.27 for a fifth place finish (season best). 

Connor Moore posted a fifth place finish in the 400-meter (50.75).

A fifth place finish for Serena Williams in the triple jump, getting to the distance of 38' 05" (11.71m). 

Cade McCadams finished in tenth place in the men's mile (4:29.61).

After a successful 60-meter hurdle preliminary run, Megan Aubuchon finished in seventh place with a run of 9.16. 

Sydney Burdine placed sixth in the women's 400-meter finishing in 57.32.

The men's 400-meter race saw Momoh Brema cross the line in 51.74 and record a tenth place finish. 

In the women's 800-meter Madelyn Gray took fourth place (2:17.87), Erika Mellor finished in sixth place (2:18.49), and Brianna Payton notched ninth place (2:20.07).

Markeith Crawford finished in sixth place (1:56.77) in the men's 800-meter. 

SEMO had three Redhawks compete in the women's Shot Put, Alivia Busch, Bailee Hux, and Makenzie Williams. Busch finished in fourth with a throw of 43' 3.75" (13.20m), Hux took fifth with a mark of 41' 7.75" (12.69m), and Williams placed ninth, (12.19m).

Myles Thornburg and Ryan Seabaugh placed sixth and eighth in the 3000-meter with times of 8:48.66 and 8:54.05.

In the women's 3000-meter, Layla Fliege finished in eighth (10:42.87), Mackenzie Pugh placed ninth (11:02.43), and Haley Smith took tenth (11:06.53).  

Marshall Swadley threw to the distance of 55' 3.50" in the men's shot put (4th) and Clay Alewelt placed eighth with a mark of 52' 8.75".

The men's triple jump saw Luke Busateri finish in fifth place with a jump of 46' 1.50" (14.06m).

Day 2 Heptathlon 
Isaac Readnour tied his personal best with 4816 total points while finishing in fourth place overall. Shea DeGraaf took tenth place with 4237 total points. 

In the men's 60-meter hurdles Isaac Reednour placed third finishing in 8.56 and Shea DeGraaf was right behind Readnour finishing with a time of 8.60.

Shea DeGraaf crossed the finish line in 3:04.72 in the Heptathlon 1000-meter, while Readnour recorded a tenth place finish (3:07.86).   

Isaac Readnour took fourth place in the heptathlon pole vault with a vault of 14' 11" (4.55m).  

Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will be on the road again next week, traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to compete at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Friday, February 2.
