CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - A total of 47 student-athletes will receive their degrees from Southeast Missouri State University during the school's commencement exercises for the Spring and Summer 2021 semesters Friday and Saturday. These Redhawks were honored Tuesday evening at a pre-graduation ceremony held at the University Center.

Brady Barke spoke to the graduates.
Trevor Falco of cross country and track & field provided the student remarks. Falco will graduate this weekend with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and has accepted a mortgage originator position at Montgomery Bank in Cape Girardeau.
Sonia R. Rucker, SEMO's Vice President for Equity, Access and Behavioral Health and Dean of Students was the keynote speaker.
Falco received the Jewel Award after compiling a 3.8 cumulative GPA as a student-athlete at SEMO. The award is given each year to a male senior athlete with the highest GPA for his career and is named for SEMO Biology Professor Don Jewel.
Maja Lundell of SEMO tennis was the recipient of the Trombetta Award. The award is given to a graduating female student-athlete with the highest GPA. Lundell registered a perfect 4.0 GPA in her career as a Redhawk. She will graduate this weekend with a Bachelor of Science in Biology: Microbiology, Cellular, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology with a minor in Chemistry.
Coaches and academic services staff then concluded the event with an honorary sashing ceremony.
A total of 1,446 SEMO students – 1,102 undergraduates, 319 master's degree candidates and 25 specialist candidates — will be graduating Friday and Saturday during Southeast Missouri State University's spring and summer commencement ceremonies.
