KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri track & field continued its 2021 season this weekend at the three-day 53rd annual Tennessee Relays Thursday through Saturday at the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.
Terrico Garrett took third in the men's 800 meters, clocking in at a career-best 1:49.44. With the time, Garrett moves to second all-time in SEMO history for the event. He ranks 18th in the NCAA West Region.
Kaitlyn Shea finished as the runner-up in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish in 16:39.19.
Josiah Kilgore improved on his PR javelin throw set at the 2021 Joey Haines Invitational with a career-best mark of 226-3 (68.96m) to take second at the Relays. He is 10th in the NCAA West Region for the field event.
Justin Breault added a distance of 182-5 (55.60m, 13th).
Austin Perkins (1:56.52, 15th) and
Griffin Bailey (2:03.49, 19th) also ran in the 800 meters for the men.
Lauryn James captured third in the women's long jump with a distance of 19-7 (5.97m).
Ciara Potter added a feat of 18-5.75 (5.63m, 12th).
Sandrea Cogio completed the 100 meters in 12.61 (10th).
Breanna Miles finished the 200 meters with a time of 24.38 (seventh).
Nick Bryant turned in a 400 meters time of 47.88 (seventh) and
Colin Schwab finished in 49.37 (11th).
Claire Morrill crossed the finish line in the 800 meters in 2:13.72 for 11th.
Brianna Payton tallied a mark of 2:16.31.
Carli Knott finished the 1,500 meters in 4:29.14 for eighth at the Relays.
Katie Wegmann added a time of 4:38.89 (16th).
Jane Boessen completed the 10,000 meters in 39:09.77.
Kristen Carter finished the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.88.
Anthony Forrest concluded the men's 110-meter hurdles in 15.18 (sixth).
Dillon Lay (15.41) and
Brock Wood (15.51) also ran in the event for the SEMO men.
Kendall Long concluded the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.50 for fifth.
Wood (56.19, seventh) and Forrest (1:03.49, ninth) also ran in the 400-meter hurdles on the men's side.
Maddie Keller then finished the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:57.90 (eighth).
The SEMO women's 4x100 meter relay team of Cogio, Miles,
Lauryn James and
Serena Williams was clocked at 48.03 for third.
Miles then teamed up with Long, Wegmann and Morrill for 3:53.41 in the 4x400 meter relay (third).
The men's 4x400 meter relay squad of Schwab, Garrett, Wood and Bryant finished in 3:17.60 (sixth).
Knott, Wegmann,
Brianna Payton and Morrill took second in the 4x800 meter relay in 9:10.64.
The men's 4x800 team of Bailey, Splitt, Sowerby and Perkins took first in 8:30.13.
Garrett, Sowerby, Splitt and Perkins then combined for a time of 17:09.39 (third) in the 4x1,500 meter relay.
In the women's distance medley relay, Knott, Long, Wegmann and Shea were clocked at 11:41.74 for second.
Leslie Brooks notched a triple jump of 36-10.5 (11.24m, 11th).
Anya Tonga posted a shot put distance of 46-6.25 (14.18m, 18th) to lead the SEMO women.
Nicole Humphreys added a heave of 41-4.25 (12.60m) and
Makenzie Williams finished with 36-9.50 (11.21m).
Dylan Clark posted a shot put mark of 51-6.50 (15.71m) in the men's competition.
Clay Alewelt tallied a distance of 47-0.25 (14.33m, 16th).
Tonga tallied a discus throw of 151-3 (46.10m, 13th). Humphreys (134-7, 41.03m, 17th) and
Makenzie Williams (128-1, 39.03m, 20th) also competed in the event for the Redhawks.
Clark took seventh in discus with a throw of 168-1 (51.23m). Alewelt finished with 149-9 (45.65m, 14th).
Humphreys led SEMO in the hammer throw with a mark of 169-9 (51.73m, 12th). Tonga concluded the competition with 162-8 (49.58m, 18th) and
Makenzie Williams added a chuck of 148-2 (45.17m, 22nd).
In the men's hammer, Clark led the way for SEMO with a mark of 195-5 (59.57m, seventh). Alewelt had a heave of 157-1 (47.88m).
Jaden Kight and
Kaylee Johnston posted javelin marks of 116-6 (35.51m, 12th) and 114-4 (34.84m, 13th), respectively.
Serena Williams concluded the two-day heptathlon with 4,179 points (eighth) and
Briann Jenkins finished the competition with 3,656 (ninth).
Shea DeGraaf, a Knoxville, Tennessee native, led the SEMO men in the decathlon with a total score of 6,534 (eighth).
Isaac Readnour (5,885 points, 11th) and
Jon Bissell (5,323, 14th) also competed in the two-day event.
Byron Sowerby completed completed the 1,500 meters in 3:58.74 (23rd).
Justin Splitt added a time of 4:10.90 (33rd).
In the men's 5,000 meters,
Noah Little crossed the finish in 15:26.42 (19th).
Nick South overcame a pole vault height of 15-9.00 (4.80m, sixth).
Donald Hatfield Jackson, this week's Ohio Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week, compiled a long jump of 23-10 (7.26m, eighth).
Victor Mathuthu tallied a triple jump of 45-4.25 (13.82m, eighth).
SEMO will next head to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Vanderbilt Invite April 16-17.
