Date ChangeThis weekend's Ohio Valley Conference basketball doubleheader between Southeast and UT Martin was moved to Sunday, a day later than the teams were initially supposed to meet. Administrators from both institutions agreed to move the game after there were transportation concerns due to the threat of impending bad weather in Martin, Tennessee.
Series HistorySoutheast holds a 46-28 advantage in its all-time series against UT Martin. The Redhawks, which split two games with UTM a year ago, have won seven of the previous 10 matchups in the series. Southeast beat the Skyhawks, 98-76, in the last meeting between these teams on Feb. 12, 2015 in Martin.
OVC West Division Play BeginsThe Redhawks start inner-divisional play against UT Martin Sunday. So far, neither of the six Ohio Valley Conference West Division teams have an overall or conference record above .500. UTM has the division's best overall record at 10-10 and West leader Murray State has the best league mark at 3-3.
Cleveland Expected to ReturnAntonius Cleveland, Southeast's top scorer and rebounder, is expected to return against UT Martin Sunday. Cleveland missed the Redhawks last three games with an injured right wrist. He scored four points and had three rebounds the last time he played at Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 9). The Redhawks went 1-2 in those games without Cleveland.
Redhawks End SkidThe Redhawks snapped a six-game losing streak when it concluded non-conference play with an 84-61 win over Hannibal-LaGrange (Jan. 19). Southeast shot a season-best 55.6 percent (30-of-54) from the field against the Trojans.
Trey Kellum paved the way with 23 points, while
Jamaal Calvin followed with 16,
Isiah Jones added 14 and
Eric McGill pitched in 13.
Kellum Nabs Career-HIghTrey Kellum dropped in a career-high 23 points in his last start against Hannibal-LaGrange (Jan. 19). Kellum shot 8-of-11 from the field and 7-of-12 at the free throw line en route to his ninth double-digit game this season. It was also his second time scoring 20 or more points this year. Kellum boosted his scoring average to 10.4 points per game, averaging double figures for the first time since Dec. 5.
Jones Hits 100th Career ThreeAfter going 0-of-9 from 3-point range in his previous two starts,
Isiah Jones made his 100th career 3-pointer in the second half against Hannibal-LaGrange (Jan. 19). Jones scored 14 points and pulled down three rebounds in 32 minutes. His 100th career three came at the 18:58 mark.
Non-Conference Play EndsSoutheast ended the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 3-10 record. The Redhawks beat Missouri State (Dec. 22) on the road and both Harris-Stowe (Dec. 27) and Hannibal-LaGrange (Jan. 19) at home for their three wins this season.
Free Throw StreakTony Anderson carries a streak of 16 consecutive free throws into Sunday's game against UT Martin. Anderson made his last six free throws at Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 9) before going perfect at the charity stripe each of his last three contests. He made 6-of-6 free throws vs. Jacksonville State (Jan. 13), 2-of-2 at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16) and 2-of-2 vs. Hannibal-LaGrange (Jan. 19). Anderson's last missed free throw was with 5:28 remaining in the first half at Eastern Kentucky.
Benjy Taylor Joins Redhawks Coaching StaffBenjy Taylor joined the Southeast men's basketball staff as an assistant coach on Jan. 21. Taylor was interim head coach at the University of Hawai'i during the 2014-15 season, leading the Rainbow Warriors to a 22-13 record. UH advanced to the Big West Conference Tournament final and recorded its second-straight 20-plus win season, marking the program's first back-to-back 20-win campaigns in 17 years. Taylor was named the Hugh Durham Mid Season Mid Major National Coach of the Year following the 2014-15 campaign. He worked five years at UH, spending three as the team's associate head coach before taking over as interim head coach. Taylor boasts 20 years of collegiate coaching experience with a pair of head coaching stints (other was at Chicago State).
Angus DishesJoel Angus III dished out a season-high eight assists and had a game-high eight rebounds against Hannibal-LaGrange (Jan. 19). It marked the third time a Redhawk had eight or more assists in a game this year.

Non-Division IThe Redhawks 84-61 win over Hannibal-LaGrange marked their 24th-straight against non-Division I teams. Southeast hasn't lost to a non-Division I program since 2001-02 (51-62, vs. Birmingham Southern on Nov. 16).
