CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri signed guard Marcus Eaves and forwards Drew Cooper and Darrion Sutton for the 2026-27 season Thursday.
A native of Madisonville, Kentucky, Eaves was a two-year starter at John A. Logan College (JALC), where he led the Vols to back-to-back Great Rivers Athletic Conference regular-season titles.
In 2025-26, he ranked fourth in the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game earning All-Conference and All-Region honors. Eaves topped JALC with 172 rebounds, finished second in assists (80) and steals (30), and rated third in field goal percentage (.478). He also shot 75.7 percent at the free throw line and added 10 blocks.
As a freshman, Eaves averaged 9.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game during the 2024-25 campaign. That year, he shot 48.5 percent from the field and ranked second on the team in free throw percentage (.851).
"There is a lot to like about Marcus' game. His physical attributes stand out. He plays with a high motor and physicality that we need from the guard position," said SEMO Head Coach
Brad Korn. "Not only can Marcus play multiple guard positions, but he is a ferocious competitor and teammate that values winning and playing the game the right way. The other thing we are excited about is that he is coming from a great winning program at John A. Logan College led by Tyler Smithpeters."
Cooper, who hails from West Monroe, Louisiana, garnered All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Region XIV honors as a freshman at Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC). He was one of only seven freshmen recognized on the All-Region XIV list.
Cooper averaged 15.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and ranked third in the region in free throw percentage (.840). He shot 41 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range as one of the Cavaliers' most consistent offensive threats.
BPCC showcased one of the most explosive offenses in Region XIV, leading its conference in 3-pointers made (311). Additionally, the Cavaliers led their region in free throw percentage (.750).
"Everyone is always looking for size and skill. Drew checks those boxes in a major way," said Korn. "He has an amazing support system around him with great lineage that will pay him dividends as he continues to blossom as a player. A true forward with great hands, footwork and outside shooting make Drew a player we have long coveted for in our system."
A native of St. Charles, Missouri, Sutton transfers to SEMO from Missouri State, where he saw action in 34 games off the bench for the Bears a year ago. He averaged 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and shot 53.6 percent (67-of-125) from the floor. Sutton was MSU's second-leading shot blocker with 21 swats, as well.
Prior to MSU, Sutton played in 18 games and made one start as a true freshman for Damon Stoudamire at Georgia Tech in 2024-25. Sutton averaged 10.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in his final prep season at Overtime Elite in Atlanta.
"We feel that Darrion's ability on the court has a very high ceiling," commented Korn. "Offensively, there are a lot of possibilities with him, and he can have a major impact defensively too. We look forward to getting him on campus, in our system, and around our coaches and players to see the best of his basketball abilities."
