CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri's men's basketball team added guard Alonzo Clawson-Smith to its 2026-27 roster Friday.
A native of Lafayette, Indiana, Clawson-Smith enjoyed a standout freshman campaign at Indiana University Kokomo last season.
Clawson-Smith made inaugural National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Region Team comprised of 15 players from each of NAIA men's basketball's five regions. He helped lead IU Kokomo to its fifth River States Conference (RSC) West Division title and seventh-consecutive 20-win season while securing First-Team All-Conference honors along the way.
"We have done a very good job at point guard here at SEMO the last couple of years and we look for Alonzo to come in and bring the best version of himself to that position," said Head Coach
Brad Korn. "He had a 3:1 assist-to-turnover ratio, is a good athlete and can make open shots."
Clawson-Smith led the Cougars in scoring (18.8 ppg), assists (156) and steals (53). He shot 56.7 percent (183-of-323) from the field, averaged 5.5 rebounds and made 78.1 percent (100-of-128) of his free throws.
"Alonzo had great statistical numbers at IU Kokomo, however, the thing that stood out most was his competitiveness and joy for his teammates' success," added Korn. "We are fortunate to continue to get players like Alonzo from such great families and coaches into our program."
Clawson-Smith is the fourth signee for the Redhawks. He joins fellow transfers Marcus Eaves (G, Madisonville, Ky./John A. Logan College), Drew Cooper (F, West Monroe, La./Bossier Parish CC) and Darrion Sutton (F, St. Charles, Mo./Missouri State) in the 2026-27 class.
