Men's Basketball Begins Practice for Upcoming 2026-27 Campaign

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri's men's basketball team began its preparation for the upcoming 2026-27 season Monday afternoon at the Show Me Center.
SEMO is 42 days from its season-opener vs. Lipscomb on Nov. 2. The Redhawks will have 30 practices leading up to that matchup.
The Redhawks went 20-13 overall and 14-6 in Ohio Valley Conference play, and advanced to the semifinals of the league's eight-team postseason tournament a year ago.
This season's 13-man roster includes four returnees and nine newcomers. Marqueas Bell, Landren Blocker, PJ Farmer and Trace Sadler are the returning players. Bell is in his fourth year with the program, while Blocker, Farmer and Sadler are each in their second season.
Bell is SEMO's top returning scorer and rebounder. He averaged 9.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 33 games and 10 starts in 2025-26. Blocker is the lone starter back. He averaged 5.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and ranked second on the team with 22 blocks in 33 games and 28 starts.
Farmer and Sadler, both from nearby Sikeston, saw playing time as freshmen. Farmer appeared in 32 games and Sadler saw action in 13 contests.
SEMO's newcomers consist of seven transfers and two freshmen.
Marcus Eaves (G, John A. Logan College), Alonzo Clawson-Smith (G, IU Kokomo), Kycen Pruett (G, College of Coastal Georgia), Darrion Sutton (F, Missouri State), Drew Cooper (F, Bossier Parish CC), Fontaine Williams, Jr. (G, West Texas A&M) and Clayton Jewell (F, Colorado Mesa) are the transfers.
Meanwhile, Axton Perry (F, Memphis, Tenn./Bartlett H.S.) and Curt Simpson (G, Columbus, Ga./Chattahoochee County H.S.) complete the squad.
Brad Korn enters his seventh year as SEMO's head coach. Korn led the Redhawks to back-to-back 20-win campaigns (20-13 in 2025-26; 21-12 in 2024-25), the programs first-ever outright OVC regular-season title (2024-25), one OVC Tournament championship (2022-23) and one NCAA Tournament berth (First Four, 2022-23). He has 94 career wins and guided SEMO to a combined 29-11 OVC record between the 2024-25 and 2025-26 campaigns.Â
