Series HistorySoutheast is a perfect 4-0 all-time against Hannibal-LaGrange, which is an NAIA school out of the American Midwest Conference. HLG is the second school from that conference that the Redhawks face this season. Southeast beat Harris-Stowe, 94-84, on Dec. 27. The Redhawks outscored the Trojans by a combined 365-227 (+138) in their four matchups, all at the Show Me Center. Southeast won beat HLG, 86-49, the last time these teams met on Nov. 18, 2014.
Non-Division IThe Redhawks have won 23-straight games against non-Division I teams and hasn't lost to a non-Division I program since 2001-02 (51-62, vs. Birmingham Southern on Nov. 16).
Break in the OVCSoutheast steps out of Ohio Valley Conference play to host Hannibal-LaGrange Tuesday. After that game, the Redhawks will begin inner-divisional play when they welcome UT Martin on Jan. 23. The Skyhawks, currently second in the OVC West, is the only team in Southeast's division with a winning record. The Redhawks face UTM, Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, Murray State and Austin Peay twice during their inner-divisional stretch of league play.
Keep it Going AndersonFreshman forward
Tony Anderson continues to play with confidence and it has shown in the last four games. After coming off the bench to score 10 points at Morehead State (Jan. 7) and 11 points at Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 9), Anderson dropped in a season-high 17 points in 22 minutes vs. Jacksonville State (Jan. 13). Three days later, he pitched in 10 points in 16 minutes at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16). He shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) from the field and 85 percent (17-of-20) at the free throw line during that span. Anderson also grabbed 18 rebounds, had one assist and collected three steals in his four double-digit scoring games combined.
Free Throw StreakTony Anderson carries a streak of 14 consecutive free throws into Tuesday's game against Hannibal-LaGrange. Anderson made his last six free throws at Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 9) before going perfect at the charity stripe each of his last two contests. He made 6-of-6 free throws vs. Jacksonville State (Jan. 13) and 2-of-2 at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16). Anderson's last missed free throw was with 5:28 remaining in the first half at Eastern Kentucky.
Redhawk RewindThe Redhawks concluded the East Division part of its Ohio Valley Conference schedule with a 91-55 road loss at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16). Southeast shot just 23.5 percent (8-of-34) from the field in the first half, its lowest field goal percentage in a first half this season. The 36-point loss was the Redhawks largest this season and largest since falling, 107-72, at Belmont on Jan. 10, 2013.
Cleveland OutSoutheast played its last two games without
Antonius Cleveland, its top scorer and rebounder. Cleveland missed the first games of his career with an injured right wrist. He played in 78 consecutive games before sitting out the Jacksonville State game on Jan. 13. Cleveland will not play against Hannibal-LaGrange Tuesday.
Kellum DeliversTrey Kellum led the Redhawks in scoring for the second time this season when he had 18 points and five rebounds in 24 minutes at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16). For Kellum, it was his eighth double-digit scoring game. His 18 points outscored the rest of Southeast's starters who combined for just 12.
Stewart Notches Season-BestFreshman
Jaylin Stewart notched a season-high eight points and eight rebounds at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16). Stewart shot 3-of-6 from the field and 2-of-4 from 3-point range in 18 minutes. He scored for the ninth time in 15 games off the bench this season.
100 in ReachIsiah Jones is only two 3-pointers away from reaching 100 in his career. Jones is currently 98-of-269 from 3-point range in his two-year Southeast career. He made two or more treys in eight of his last 11 starts. Jones cleared 100 career assists when dished out three at Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 9).
3-Point AbsenceIsiah Jones, who leads Southeast with 33 three-pointers made, went two-straight starts without making a trey. Jones was 0-of-9 from long range in that span. He also shot just 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from the field. Jones is the Redhawks second-leading scorer with 10.4 points per game this season.
