Setting the Table
The Southeast Missouri baseball heads to Murray, Ky. to take on Murray State in a key Ohio Valley Conference weekend series. The Redhawks and 'Breds open the series on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and will follow that up with a 2:00 p.m. start on Saturday and a 1:00 p.m. start on Sunday.

Redhawks Against Murray State
The Redhawks hold a 49-47 lead in the all-time series against Murray State. The Redhawks took two of three games last season against Murray State at Capaha Field by scores on 7-1, 2-7 and 9-8.

Capital One Academic All-District
Southeast Missouri baseball players Jason Blum, Derek Gibson and Dalton Hewitt were named Capital One Academic All-District ® Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri outhit SEC foe Mizzou 15-8 on Tuesday night in Columbia, Mo. as the Redhawks downed the Tigers 9-7. The Redhawks also recorded six extra base hits with two home runs (Gibson and Tellor) and four doubles by Derek Gibson, Jason Blum, Ryan Barnes and Clayton Evans. Evans led the Redhawks with three hits and three RBI and a run scored.

Going Streaking
Derek Gibson extended his hitting streak to seven games Tuesday. Gibson hit an inside the park home run on Tuesday against Mizzou, the first by a Redhawk since Casey Jones on March 13, 2010. Gibson was 3-for-5 on the night as he leads the OVC in hitting at .373.

Hurts So good
Southeast's Jason Blum set the single season hit-by-pitch record last Saturday as he was plunked twice as he has recorded 19 on the season. He also moved to second all-time at Southeast with 28 in his career. He leads the OVC this season and ranks fifth in NCAA.

Preseason OVC Polls
The Southeast Missouri Baseball team was picked eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Austin Peay, the OVC Co-Regular season and tournament champions in back-to-back seasons were picked to win the league with 14 first place votes. Southeast Missouri junior left fielder Derek Gibson was named Preseason All-OVC after earning First-Team All-OVC last season by the coaches and sports information directors in the OVC.
