MARION, Ill. — Southeast Missouri Baseball (39-17) fell to Eastern Illinois (32-19) with a narrow 3–2 loss at Mt. Dew Park on Thursday.
The Redhawks managed four hits, including a home run, but the Panthers secured the victory with a decisive three-run third inning.
The game was marked by a key third inning where both teams scored, starting with
Dakota Joggerst's RBI single to right center that brought
Cal Sullivan home for Southeast Missouri. This put them on the board with a 1–0 lead. However, Eastern Illinois responded strongly in their half of the inning, scoring three runs. Ethan Rossi's single set the stage, followed by Tyler Castro's RBI single to right center, and Mike O'Conor's two-RBI double to right center secured Eastern Illinois a 3–1 lead through three innings.
In the seventh inning,
Andrew Ramirez hit a solo home run down the left field line, his second of the season, bringing the Redhawks to within one run. Despite this late effort, the final innings saw no additional scoring from either team. The Panthers maintained their advantage, concluding the game with a 3–2 victory.
