COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Southeast Missouri Redhawks faced off against the University of Missouri on Thursday, falling 4-1.
Missouri took the doubles point after wins at both No. 2 and No. 1 doubles.
Juliette Demunck and
Kristina Kozakova were narrowly edged out 6-4 by Zoe Lazar and Korina Roso at No. 2 doubles. Meanwhile,
Saskia Soome and
Yontha Tadoum also faced a 6-4 defeat by Gian Octa and Lara Quaglia at No. 1 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match, featuring
Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerova against Alex Ackman and Andrea Artimedi, was left unfinished with SEMO trailing 4-5.
In singles play, Missouri extended its lead as Korina Roso overcame
Maja Bajorek in the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 1-0 retirement decision. SEMO's
Sofia Zemtsova put the Redhawks on the board with a win by default at No. 2 singles against Gian Octa. Despite this burst of momentum,
Kristina Kozakova was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Lara Quaglia at No. 5 singles.
The Tigers clinched the match with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win by Zoe Lazar over
Yontha Tadoum at No. 6 singles. The matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, featuring Mia Mayerova and
Saskia Soome, respectively, were left unfinished. Missouri ultimately sealed a 4-1 victory over the Redhawks.

"As always, it comes down to doubles point. We competed well, it just came down to deuce points in doubles. And singles, we were competitive in all spots but deuce points are the factor that the scores look the way they do."
