MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Southeast Missouri women's tennis faced a tough challenge on Saturday, falling 4-0 to the University of Memphis.
Memphis claimed the doubles point with wins on courts three and two. Natalia Koppova and Rebecca Frant defeated SEMO's
Sofia Zemtsova and
Yontha Tadoum 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. Alicia Mall and Clemence Thouard followed suit, besting
Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerova 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match featuring
Kristina Kozakova and
Juliette Demunck against Sofiia Mykhailets and Emma Dvorackova was halted with Memphis leading 4-1.
In singles play, Memphis clinched the match with wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
At No. 2 singles, Demunck 6-4, 3-2, which remained unfinished, Mayerova lost the first set 6-3 at No. 5 singled but her match was unfinished when she was down 2-1. Tadoum was leading her match at No. 6 singles 6-3, 3-1 but it was also unfinished.
Next up, the Redhawks will travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky for a match Friday against Western Kentucky.
