Track and Field

Track Travels to Louisville Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field squads will travel to Louisville, Kentucky for the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite, hosted by the University of Louisville.  

On Friday, the first events start at 9:45 a.m. with the men's weight throw, with the track events starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, the field events get going at 9 a.m. before the track events firing off at 10 a.m.

The Redhawks will be competing against around 50 teams across all NCAA divisions. Notable teams that will be competing are OVC foes Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, UT Martin, Lindenwood, Morehead State, along with teams like Ohio State, Indiana, Butler and Memphis. 

Last Time Out

The Redhawks sent a smaller group to the Don DeNoon Invite hosted by Southern Illinois. SEMO captured two event titles led by Sam Rinehart winning the men's mile, ahead of teammate Trey Mygatt. Ceyda Bayur claimed the women's 1000-meters in a time of 3:03.6, beating out teammate Mattea Pearsall

The Redhawks other podium finishers included freshman Kale Clements, who set a personal best mark finishing second in the 800-meters, Micah Grawer, who crossed the line second in the men's 1000-meters along with the men's 4x400-meter relay.

National Rankings

The SEMO track team is well represented on the individual event national rankings. Marshall Swadley's season best shot put of 62-2.5 still sits at No. 13 in the nation. Trenton Braswell whose season best weight throw of 67-7.5 sits No. 38 nationally. 

On the women's side Brianna Dixon is on the national list in the high jump, sitting 41st in the nation with a maximum height of 5-10. Anna Thomason is the final Redhawk on the national lists as she currently sits 17th in the pentathlon. 

OVC Rankings

Along with having a presence on the national lists the SEMO track teams are well represented on the OVC rankings, four weeks out from the indoor conference championship meet. Male athletes who currently top the charts in the conference are Marshall Swadley in the shot put and Matt Pluff in the high jump. 

The Redhawk men have multiple people right behind the event leaders include Sullivan Gleason, second in the pole vault, Colin Beers, third in the pole vault, John Hartmann, second in the high jump, and Trenton Braswell, who is second in the weight throw and third in the shot put. 

On the women's side, event leaders include Sydney Burdine in the 400-meters, Madelyn Gray in the mile, Anna Thomason in the 60-meter hurdles, Brianna Dixon in the high jump, Clara Billing in the pole vault, Andreese Ortiz in the shot put and weight throw, and Anna Thomason in the pentathlon. 

The Redhawk women who are just behind the leaders include Bailie Hux and Alyssa Repke in the weight throw, Liberty Blackburn, third in the high jump, Dixon, who is second in the 60m hurdles and Thomason who is 3rd in the 400m.
