CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams will compete at the Don DeNoon Invite, hosted by nearby Southern Illinois University.
Schedule Change
The meet was set to compete Friday and Saturday, but a last-minute change has moved the meet to Thursday and Friday. Thursday's part of the meet will include the first four events of the heptathlon, along with the men's and women's weight throw.
On Friday, the Field events start at 9 a.m. ahead of the track events following and starting at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks traveled to the Indiana Invitational facing multiple high-major schools. Despite the competition SEMO took home four event titles.
Marshall Swadley won the shot put and
Matt Pluff topped the table in the high jump. On the track
Nova Ojutkangas and
Garrett Dumke both took home titles in the 3000-meters.
Other podium finishers included Swadley in the weight throw,
Sullivan Gleason, second in the pole vault,
Anna Thomason third in the 60-meter hurdles,
Clara Billing, third in the women's pole vault, and
Sydney Burdine in the 300-meters.
OVC Athletes of the Week
The Redhawks had three athletes selected by the OVC for its weekly awards.
Marshall Swadley brought home male field Athlete of the week,
Matt Pluff won male Freshman of the Week and
Clara Billing was tabbed as female Field Athlete of the Week.
Swadley has dominated the award this season winning all three times it has been given out this season. It was the first meet he did not set a PR this season, but he still won the shot put event and finished third in the weight throw.
Pluff was cited for the first time in his career after winning the high jump with a mark of 6-9.75 which ranks No.1 in the OVC this season.
Clara Billing won the pole vault by clearing 13-3.5, finishing third in the event. Her mark currently sits at the top of the OVC in the event.
National Rankings
The SEMO track team is well represented on the individual event national rankings.
Marshall Swadley's season best shot put of 62-2.5 currently sits at No. 13 in the nation. Swadley's best mark in the weight throw also sits at No. 43 in the country. He is also joined on that list by teammate
Trenton Braswell whose season best weight throw of 67-7.5 sits No. 35 nationally.
On the women's side
Brianna Dixon is on the national list in the high jump, sitting 33
rd in the nation with a maximum height of 5-10.
Clara Billing has also moved into the top 50 list in the pole vault with her season best mark of 13-3.5 which sits at No. 41.
Anna Thomason is the final Redhawk on the national lists as she currently sits 10th in the pentathlon.
