CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southeast Missouri Track and Field team earned pair of event victories and multiple podium finishes at the Don DeNoon Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois.
On the women's side, Ceyda Bayur claimed the meet title in the 1,000 meters, crossing the line first with a time of 3:03.6. In the mile, Sam Rinehart captured first place on the men's side, winning the event, along with a personal best mark of 4:21.9.
The women's shot put opened the field events with Baylee Beard earning a third-place finish, recording a throw of 40-11.5, while Quinton Maxwell placed fourth in the men's shot put at 46-6.
The men's 1,000 meters featured a trio of Redhawk runners, led by Micah Grawer's second-place finish (2:30.9), followed closely by Trey Mygatt in third (2:31.2) and Byron Sowerby in fourth (2:33.6). On the women's side of the event, Mattea Pearsall finished runner-up with a time of 3:04.1, just behind Bayur.
In the 800 meters, Kale Clements secured second place for the women, posting a time of 2:20.9, while Clayton Eftink placed fifth in the men's mile with a time of 4:32.3.
The day wrapped up with the relay events, where the men's 4x400-meter relay finished second in 3:31.4, and the women's 4x400-meter relay placed fourth, crossing the line in 4:04.5.
The Redhawks will return to competition when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite, hosted by the University of Louisville on January 30-31.
