Redhawks Host Murray State in Final Midweek Contest Tuesday Night
Southeast Missouri Baseball (26-18) will conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday, April 29, when they host Murray State (30-10) in the second meeting between the two this season. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m., CT. at Capaha Field.

At the Park
Tuesday's contest will feature a Rowdy Bobblehead giveaway continuing the ongoing series of special themed bobbleheads this season. The first 500 fans in the ballpark can take home a Rowdy baseball bobblehead, courtesy of First State Community Bank.

Sawyers vs. Murray
The Redhawks will meet Murray State for the 16th time under the direction of ninth year head coach Andy Sawyers. Sawyers and the Redhawks hold a 15-10 record against the former OVC club, having dropped the first meeting this season by a final score of 4-3 in Murray, Ky. (4/15).
Weekend Sweep
SEMO Baseball swept Morehead State this past weekend in epic fashion as the Redhawks won Saturday's doubleheader with a 5-1 and 21-7 victories before clinching the sweep with an 11-10, come-from-behind victory. The sweep marked the first time since 2004 that the Redhawks (formerly Indians) swept the Eagles in Morehead, Ky. The Redhawks had another dominant pitching performance from RHP Nathan Mertens in Saturday's first game as the La Canada, California-native picked up his team-leading sixth victory. SEMO cruised to a 21-7 victory in the second game behind 15 hits from the offense, including nine RBIs from Gunnar Doyle. Doyle continued his offensive prowess in the series finale, hitting a go-ahead three-run home run to give SEMO an 11-10 advantage. LHP Jackson Kranawetter came on and secured his eighth save of the season as the Redhawks improved to 13-5 in OVC play.

OVC Player of the Week
Designated hitter Gunnar Doyle was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Doyle, a native of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, finished the past week going 6-10 at the plate (.600) with three home runs, two doubles, 12 RBIs, and slugged an impressive 1.600 in 10 at-bats. He claimed his first weekly award of his career and is the first position player to take home the honor this season.

In the Record Books
Doyle made history over the weekend in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. He tied the single-game program record for RBIs with nine against Morehead State. He joins fellow teammate Cole Warehime and former player Dan Shy to record nine RBIs in a single game. Doyle finished 4-5 at the plate with a pair of home runs, a double, and four runs scored.

See Ball, Hit Ball
Ty Stauss recorded a season-high three hits in Sunday's finale at Morehead State. The Eureka, Mo.-native now has 47 hits this season and is hitting .287 on the campaign. The numbers rank him fourth on the team in each category, trailing the team lead for hits by just four (Mugan, 51).

Outfield On Base
The outfield duo of Stauss and Michael Mugan are currently enjoying on-base streaks for the Redhawks. Mugan has the longest streak of reaching base at 13 games, started back on April 6. Stauss follows close behind with an 11-game streak beginning on April 8.
The Long Ball
SEMO's offense slugged seven home runs over the weekend at Morehead State, bringing their team total to 45 homers this season. Right fielder Cole Warehime leads the club with 11 on the season, followed by Bryce Cannon and Michael Mugan with seven. As a team, the Redhawks currently rank fourth in the OVC in home runs. When SEMO hits two or more home runs, the club enjoys a 10-1 record.

First Career Yahtzee
Freshman outfielder Caleb Champion hit his first collegiate home run of his career on Saturday afternoon. The Rogers, Arkansas-native has 46 at-bats on the season, 13 hits, seven RBIs, a double, and the home run. He is hitting .283 in 28 appearances this season.

At the Plate
Southeast Missouri has found success when outhitting their opponents this season, including this past weekend. Outhitting the Eagles in game two on Saturday and Sunday's series finale, the Redhawks improved to 19-1 overall when outhitting their opponents.

Come Around to Score
Gunnar Doyle set his career-high in runs scored in Saturday's 21-7 drubbing of Morehead State in game two of the doubleheader. Doyle came around to score four times in the contest, including two home runs, to lead the Redhawks in the game.

Nation's Leader
RHP Nathan Mertens continues to lead division I baseball and the Ohio Valley Conference in strikeout-to-walk ratio. Mertens has hurled 52 strikeouts to just five walks this season for a 10.40 K/BB ratio. In games where Mertens has issued a walk, he has not allowed more than one free pass in those outings.

Nation's Leader (Cont.)
Mertens also leads the country in walks allowed per nine innings. In 61.0 innings, Mertens has surrendered five walks for a .74 BB/9 ratio.

The Closer
LHP Jackson Kranawetter picked up two saves over the weekend beginning with the first game on Saturday afternoon. Kranawetter relieved Mertens in the fifth inning and pitched the final 3.1 innings to pick up save number seven. He punched out six Eagles in the outing before turning around and earning save number eight on the season with a pair of Ks on Sunday afternoon. Kranawetter's eight saves rank him first in the OVC and 17th in the country.

The Walkin' Man
Leadoff hitter and infielder Brooks Kettering continues to display his good eye at the plate this season. Kettering has drawn an OVC best 35 walks through 44 games this season and ranks 79th in the country in walks.
