AUSTIN, Texas – Logan Blomquist, the 2022 NCAA Hammer Throw National Champion, was named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country First Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Blomquist graduated from Southeast Missouri State University this Spring with his Master's in Public Administration, registering a GPA of 3.80.
He also received his undergraduate degree in Technology Management: Industrial & Safety Management from SEMO with a GPA of 3.59 in Spring 2020.
He was previously named to the 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, on May 26.
Blomquist, the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Year and Hammer Champion, captured Southeast Missouri track & field's first-ever NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships title in program history.
The Pleasant Hill, Missouri, native, won the 2022 NCAA Hammer Throw National Championship with a career-best and SEMO program-best mark of 240-8 (73.37m) on his sixth and final attempt on June 8 in Eugene, Oregon, for U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) First-Team All-America laurels.
Blomquist also registered a mark of 229-4 (69.91) to capture the 2022 NCAA West Preliminary Championship in hammer throw, May 25 at the John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He captured Gold in the 2022 OVC Hammer competition with 237-3 (72.31m) and led the NCAA (first in NCAA West Region) this season with a throw of 240-1 (73.18) set at the Memphis Tiger Invitational (April 29-30).
In 2022, Blomquist has earned 10 hammer throw titles and been named the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week three times. He also won the 2022 OVC Shot Put title and earned Bronze in the discus at the league Championship.
Blomquist has been selected to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in his career at SEMO and was named an All-Academic Athlete by the USTFCCCA for the 2019-20 season.
Blomquist is Southeast Missouri's 45th CoSIDA Academic All-American and 11th First-Team Selection in program history.
Arizona State University's Turner Washington (Division I), Ashland University's Trevor Bassitt (Division II), Carroll University's Steven Hermsen (Division III) and Missouri Baptist University's Jordan Crawford (NAIA) were named the Academic All-America® of the Year award winner for their respective divisions.
Blomquist will next compete in hammer at the 2022 Toyota USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships Saturday at 2:15 p.m., CT at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Marysa Flieg, the 2022 OVC Female Co-Freshman of the Year and Javelin Champion, and
Marshall Swadley, the 2022 OVC Indoor Co-Male Freshman of the Year, will also both compete in the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships Thursday and Friday.
