STARKVILLE, Miss. – Southeast Missouri track and field continued competition Friday across two meets, with the Redhawks turning in strong performances at the Bulldog Relays and the WashU Distance Carnival.
At the Bulldog Relays, the Redhawks saw solid efforts across both relays and field events. The men's 4x800-meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 8:13.58, while the women's 4x800-meter relay also secured a fifth-place finish, crossing the line in 10:06.4.
On the track,
Anna Thomason led the way in the women's 200 meters with a 13th-place finish in 24.35.
In the field events,
Andreese Ortiz posted a top-five finish in the women's discus, placing fifth with a throw of 146-4.
Alyssa Repke followed in seventh at 144-8. On the men's side,
Zavier Winton finished 13th in the discus with a mark of 152-4.
SEMO also found success in the high jump, where
Molly Grohmann and
Liberty Blackburn tied for fifth and sixth, respectively, each clearing 5-3.
John Hartmann added an eighth-place finish in the men's high jump with a clearance of 6-4.5.
In the horizontal jumps,
Cole Bruenderman and
Matt Pluff placed ninth and 10th in the men's long jump with marks of 22-3.25 and 22-3, respectively.
Meanwhile, distance runners competed at the WashU Distance Carnival, highlighted by strong performances in distance events.
Cole Reinders posted a time of 3:51.1 in the men's 1500 meters, while
Nick Cimmarusti (14:55.3) and
Garrett Dumke (14:57.2) both broke the 15-minute barrier in the men's 5,000 meters.
On the women's side,
Nova Ojutkangas finished the women's 5k in a personal best time of 16:55.2. Madalyn Gray placed 25th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:37.9. The Redhawks had a strong showing in the women's 5,000 meters, led by
Lauren Eftink (17:34.7) and
Kayla Vogelsang (17:54.2), followed by
Daphne Bishop (18:08.8),
Claire Horstmann (18:30.8), and
Brooklyn Bender (18:40.5).
SEMO will wrap up the Bulldog Relays Saturday with the javelin at 10:30 a.m. and the track events following at 1 p.m.
