About Eastern Illinois
Eastern Illinois comes to Cape Girardeau with momentum after knocking off Murray State and Austin Peay, the top two teams in the Ohio Valley Conference. Both wins featured sizeable second-half comebacks. The Panthers rallied from a 50-23 deficit with 11:45 remaining in the game to defeat Murray State, 63-60. It was just the seventh time in Division I history that a team overcame a deficit of 27 or more points in the second half to win. EIU then erased a 13-point deficit midway through the second half to beat Austin Peay, 83-80, in overtime. For its efforts, EIU was named NABC Team of the Week.
