Former Southeast Missouri track & field All-American John Schwepker is in this week's Alumni Spotlight brought to you by SoutheastHEALTH.
Schwepker was on SEMO's track & field team from 1984-1988. He was the NCAA Division II National Champion in the indoor pole vault in 1985 and outdoor decathlon in 1988. Schwepker, who is in the school's Athletics Hall of Fame, was a seven-time All-American who still holds SEMO's decathlon record with 7,881 points.
After training for the 1988 and 1992 Olympics in the Decathlon, Schwepker began his professional career with Anacomp, a Fortune 500 Micrographics company.
For over six years now, Schwepker has worked at Abstrakt Marketing Group in St. Louis. He is currently Vice President of Sales for the business growth agency which serves over 700 clients nationwide and has over 300 employees. Abstrakt is a full-service lead generation company that offers both inbound and outbound solutions for their client partners.
With over 25 years of experience, Schwepker worked at Excel Training, Marcone Appliance Parts Supply, St. Charles Community College, Cintas, Reality Systems, LLC and Worldwide Technology prior to joining the Abstrakt Marketing Group team.
He has won many awards along the way such as the Corporate LiveWire Innovation and Excellence Award, Hermes Creative Award, Better Business Bureau TORCH Award, Summit Creative Award, Videographer Award and Communicator Award of Distinction for Branded Entertainment.
Schwepker and his brother, David, both graduated from SEMO. David is in his 24th season as the head volleyball coach at Murray State. John's nephew, Luke, is a freshman wide receiver on the Redhawks football team.
