Series History
Rivals Southeast Missouri and Murray State hook up for the 79th time on the hardwood Saturday. MSU holds a 57-21 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1930-31. The Racers have the most wins against the Redhawks of any Ohio Valley Conference opponent. MSU won seven of the last nine matchups between these teams. Six of SEMO's wins against the Racers have come at the CFSB Center, the most of any opponent at that facility.
Looking Ahead
After Saturday's game, Southeast Missouri returns to Cape Girardeau for its final two games of the season. The Redhawks host Tennessee State (Feb. 28) and Ohio Valley Conference leader Belmont (Mar. 2).
OVC Update
Southeast Missouri is 11th in the Ohio Valley Conference standings entering the weekend. Murray State (13-2) and Belmont (13-2) are in a tie for first at the top of the conference. The Bruins have won 10-straight games and the Racers are on a six-game winning streak. Austin Peay (12-3) and Jacksonville State (12-3) are tied for second with Eastern Illinois (7-8) currently in fifth.
Thursday Recap
The Redhawks dropped an 83-70 decision at Austin Peay Thursday. Southeast Missouri shot over 50 percent for the second-straight game marking the first time this season the Redhawks had a .500 or better field goal percentage in back-to-back contests.
Caldwell Out for Season
Freshman guard Alex Caldwell is out for Southeast Missouri's final four games of the season. Caldwell sprained his MCL and ACL during the team's practice on Feb. 19. He is SEMO's third-leading scorer with 8.7 points a game in 24 games and five starts this year.
Tolbert Leads Redhawks
Freshman Sage Tolbert scored 14 points to lead three Redhawks in double figures at Austin Peay (Feb. 21). Tolbert shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the field en route to his fifth double-digit scoring game. Nygal Russell (11) and Jonathan Dalton (10) also scored double figures.
No Missed Free Throws
Southeast Missouri did not miss a free throw in a game for the first time this season when it went 12-of-12 at Austin Peay (Feb. 21). It marked the first time SEMO went perfect at the free throw line in a minimum of 10 attempts since vs. Sacramento State (10-of-10, Feb. 19, 2011).
Climb to 100
Jonathan Dalton is six assists away from reaching 100 in his career. Dalton has 94 assists and averages 3.4 per game this season. If he hits the mark, it will be the second year in a row where Dalton has dished out 100 assists.
