Krupa and Velkoska Win Second Straight Doubles Match as Southeast Drops Dual at Missouri Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Isabella Krupa and Teona Velkoska recorded their second straight dual doubles victory Saturday as Southeast Missouri women's tennis (0-2) fell to Missouri (2-0), 4-0, at the Mizzou Tennis Center.
Krupa and Velkoska improved to 2-0 in 2019 with a 6-2 win over Marta Oliveira and Vivien Abraham to start the dual meet Saturday.
The Tigers then earned the doubles point with wins at the third and first positions. Serena Nash and Gabrielle Goldin beat Anais Emelie and Romana Tarajova, 6-1, at no. 3 doubles.
Macken Middlebrooks and Ellie Wright then outlasted Kseniya Zonova and Sneha Sinha, 6-4, at no. 1 doubles to secure the point.
Mizzou then claimed the meet with wins at the fourth, first and second singles slots.
Wright beat Velkoska, 6-0, 6-2, at #4 singles and then Middlebrooks defeated Tarajova, 6-0, 6-3, at the top position.
Nash picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Zonova at the no. 2 spot to conclude the dual.
Krupa fought tough against #60-ranked Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) player Lisa Fukutoku at no. 3 singles. Krupa won the opening set, 7-6, before Fukutoku evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-1 second set. In the third set, Krupa was leading 3-0 before the match was stopped.
The Redhawks next head to Saint Louis for a dual meet against the Billikens on Friday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m.
