Redhawks Host Tennessee StateÂ
Southeast Missouri (6-8, 0-1) plays host to Tennessee State (5-7, 0-1) Sunday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m., CT, at the Show Me Center.

Series History
Tennessee State owns a 25-20 advantage in its overall series against Southeast. TSU is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these teams. The Redhawks beat the Tigers, 78-75, in overtime on Mar. 1, 2017 at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. TSU has won in five of its last six trips to Cape Girardeau.Â
Four-Game Skid
The Redhawks are on a season-long four-game losing streak following Thursday's 94-72 loss to Belmont. Southeast's last win was a 75-69 victory at regional-rival Southern Illinois on Dec. 9.
New Year's Eve
Southeast plays a New Year's Eve game for the third-straight year when it takes the court to face Tennessee State Sunday. The Redhawks are 1-5 all-time in New Year's Eve games during their NCAA Division I era. Southeast's only New Year's Eve win came at home against Eastern Kentucky (81-48) last season.Â
Redhawks and Tigers
The Redhawks and Tigers each tipped off Ohio Valley Conference play with a loss Thursday. Southeast fell to Belmont, 94-72, at home and Tennessee State lost at UT Martin, 63-60, in overtime. The Redhawks and Tigers each enter Sunday's matchup on four-game losing streaks.Â
OVC Openers
With its loss to Belmont Thursday, Southeast dropped to 10-17 all-time in Ohio Valley Conference openers. The Redhawks last opened league play with a win when they beat Eastern Kentucky, 81-48, at the Show Me Center on Dec. 31, 2016.Â
Forty for Mahoney
Denzel Mahoney began Ohio Valley Conference play by scoring 19 points against Belmont (Dec. 28). Mahoney shot 5-of-13 from the field and 7-of-10 at the free throw line. He also matched a career-high with eight rebounds. It was the 40th time Mahoney scored double figures in 47 starts during his Southeast career.
Brewer Reaches Career-High
Freshman Ledarrius Brewer notched a career-high 21 points in 22 minutes in his first career Ohio Valley Conference start against Belmont (Dec. 28). Brewer made 7-of-11 field goals and went 6-of-9 from 3-point range. It was his third 20-point game this season. Brewer is Southeast's second-leading scorer with 12.2 points a game.
11 and Counting
Denzel Mahoney has scored double figures in 11-straight games. Mahoney recently dropped in 19 points against Belmont (Dec. 28). He matched the longest double-digit scoring streak of his career (11 games from Jan. 21-Nov. 13, 2017). Mahoney led the Redhawks in scoring during nine of his 14 starts this year.
Top of the Conference
Southeast moved to first in the Ohio Valley Conference in 3-point field goal percentage. The Redhawks are shooting 38.6 percent from beyond the arc through 14 games. Southeast's 118 made threes are second to Belmont's 163. Ledarrius Brewer (30) and Denzel Mahoney (22) have combined for 52 three-pointers made this season.

Sophomore guard/forward Denzel Mahoney leads the Ohio Valley Conference with 18.6 points a game. Mahoney is also 12th in free throw percentage (.798), fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (.440), and 17th in minutes played (29.9 mpg). He has scored double figures a total of 40 times in his career.
Last Time it Happened
The last Southeast player to finish a season as the Ohio Valley Conference scoring leader was Roy Booker in 2005-06. Booker averaged 22 points per game and drained 73 three-pointers in 27 games that year. Since then, the closest the Redhawks came to having a player lead the league in scoring was 2013-14 when cousins Tyler Stone (19.3 ppg) and Jarekious Bradley (19 ppg) ranked second and third, respectively.
