CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.. -- Southeast Missouri's tennis program has been named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team.
"I am very proud of how much hard work the student-athletes put into their academics this past year," said head coach Mary Beth Gunn. "We strive to be at the top in academics at the university. We reached our team goal of having a 3.6 or higher cumulative GPA for the spring semester, and I know they are excited to get back in the classroom this fall."
The ITA All-Academic team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher.
SEMO was one of 700 men's and women's teams, on all levels, to receive the award. Mila Majtan, Ana Canahuate-Torres, Anais Emelie, Annisa Warasanti and Isabella Krupa comprised the academic team.
These student-athletes also earned Ohio Valley Conference academic honors this week. Majtan garnered the OVC Medal of Honor, which is a perfect 4.0 GPA for the 2015-16 academic year. All five were also named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll, requiring a 3.25 GPA for the 2015-16 academic year.
