Redhawks End Fall Slate in Springfield

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Southeast Missouri's women's tennis team will end their fall season this weekend when they travel to Springfield for the Missouri State Invitational.
The two-day event will span Friday and Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., CT, each day. Louisiana Tech, Arkansas, Central Arkansas and Evangel will also compete in the tournament.
"This is our last tournament of the fall season, and we are looking to build on the confidence that we already gained this season," said head coach Mary Beth Gunn. "We are excited about the competitive matchups first round; playing against Arkansas in doubles is a great opportunity for us, and I think we will rise to the occasion. Everyone will be challenged in their respective draws for singles and doubles."
Heading into the final tournament, the Redhawks have won a total of 74 matches during the fall season. SEMO earned 43 wins in singles and 31 in doubles.
Freshman Oleksandra Doroshenko leads the team in all three categories. She has 22 total victories, collecting 13 in doubles play and nine in singles.
