CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri basketball student-athlete Aaron Adeoye is trying out for the Redhawks football team this spring.

Adeoye worked out with the team for the first time Thursday and will be evaluated throughout the remainder of Southeast's spring practices with the hopes of earning a roster spot.

A native of Marion, Ill., Adeoye stands at 6-7, 237, and played one basketball season at Southeast in 2014-15. He averaged 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest in 30 games and 23 starts. Adeoye ranked third on the team in rebounds and was fifth in scoring. He also had 18 blocks and 17 steals, averaging 20.1 minutes per game.

Adeoye was a three-year football letterman who earned All-Conference and All-South honors as a defensive end at Marion High School before following his path to play college basketball. He will be at that same position during his football tryout with the Redhawks.

If Adeoye makes the team, he will be eligible to play this upcoming 2015 season.
