Soccer Unveils 2014 Schedule

2014 Southeast Missouri Soccer Schedule

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Head women's soccer coach Heather Nelson has announced the 2014 Southeast Missouri soccer schedule.

The 2014 schedule features seven matches at Houck Stadium.

The 2014 campaign will begin with two exhibition games, first at Lipscomb (Aug. 11) then at Saint Louis (Aug. 13).

The regular season kicks off with a non-conference matchup against Ohio Valley Conference foe UT Martin in Martin, Tenn. on Aug. 24.

The Redhawks open the home schedule on Aug. 29 against Missouri - St. Louis at 6:30 p.m. The Redhawks also face Illinois State (Sept. 13) at home in non-conference action. Both serve as the only home matches for Southeast before October.

Southeast Missouri will trek west to partake in the Air Force Academy Tournament Sept. 5 and 7. The Redhawks will face UC Davis (at Air Force Academy; Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Northern Colorado (at Northern Colorado; Greeley, Colo.) in the tournament.

The OVC slate begins Sept. 26 on the road at Eastern Illinois. Southeast will return home for a three-game home stint beginning Oct. 3 against UT Martin followed by Murray State (Oct. 5) and Austin Peay (Oct. 10).

Southeast has a total of five home matches on October, concluding with Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 17) and Morehead State (Oct. 19).

The Redhawks will wrap up the regular season on the road with three-straight matches before the OVC Championship Tournament. The OVC Tournament will begin Nov. 6 on the campus of the highest seed.

Southeast Missouri finished the 2013 campaign 8-7-1 overall and 6-2-2 in OVC play. Southeast, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, lost to No. 6 Austin Peay in the first round, 1-0.

Southeast lost notable players such as OVC Defensive Player of the Year Ashton Aubuchon and Stephanie Palmer; however, the Redhawks return leading-scorers Erin Shulman and Natasha Minor (Second Team All-OVC). Christina Rohde and Breana Beine, along with Minor, earned All-Newcomer Team honors last season and will return in 2014.
