rd ranked Xavier University seized a decisive 6-0 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Wednesday at Corcoran Field. The Musketeers' offensive efforts were highlighted by a hat trick from one of their forwards, contributing significantly to the six-goal tally. Xavier outshot the Redhawks 37-2, with 21 shots on target, while maintaining a clean sheet, allowing only two shots on goal.
Southeast Missouri State struggled to contain the Musketeers' offensive pressure in the first half, falling behind 3-0. Xavier's Emma Flick opened the scoring in the 5th minute, followed by goals from Peyton Kohls and Samantha Erbach. SEMO's goalkeeper,
Madison Geisler, was active, making 15 saves as the Musketeers fired numerous shots, Despite committing three fouls, the Redhawks failed to generate any shots, facing a tough defensive stand from Xavier.
Xavier extended their lead early in the second half with goals from Kohls in the 51st minute and Erbach in the 69th and 74th minutes, resulting in the final 6-0 victory. Despite the Redhawks' efforts, including shots on goal by
Rachel Kretzer and
Laia Amat, both attempts were saved by the Musketeers' goalkeeper, Taylor Thomas. Geisler made several saves throughout the half, including crucial stops against Erbach and Sara Parker, but Xavier's offensive pressure proved too strong.
The next challenge for the Redhawks comes with a trip to St. Charles, Mo., where they will face Lindenwood on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.
