Home Winning StreakThe Redhawks own a seven-game winning streak at home dating back to last season. Southeast ended the 2013-14 campaign with wins in each of their final three home contests and enter Saturday's matchup undefeated (4-0) at the Show Me Center this year. The Redhawks beat Hannibal-LaGrange, 86-49, on Nov. 18, Alabama A&M, 85-51, on Nov. 29, Southeastern Louisiana, 63-59, on Dec. 2 and Southern Illinois, 55-54, on Dec. 10 this season. The Redhawks are among five Ohio Valley Conference schools without a home loss this year. Additionally, Southeast's four home wins are second-most in the league. MSU is the second Division I in-state opponent the Redhawks face this month. Southeast fell to Missouri, 65-61, on Dec. 2 in Columbia. In all, Southeast has four Missouri institutions (Hannibal-LaGrange and Harris-Stowe are the others) on its non-conference schedule this year.
Final ExamsAfter Saturday's game, Southeast breaks for final exams all of next week. The Redhawks will then return to action with two matchups against SEC opponents before the Christmas holiday. Southeast will face nationally-ranked Arkansas in Little Rock on Dec. 20 and Ole Miss in Southaven, Miss. on Dec. 22.
Nutt and Hinson ShowdownThe highly-anticipated game between Southeast and Southern Illinois featured longtime friends in head coaches
Dickey Nutt and Barry Hinson. Nutt and Hinson have been friends for more than 30 years. They first met at Oklahoma State when Nutt was a player and Hinson was a up-and-coming coach, and have followed each other since. This week marked the sixth time where Nutt and Hinson met as NCAA Division I head coaches. The Redhawks thrilling 55-54 win gave Nutt (2-4) his second win against Hinson-coached teams. Hinson coached at Missouri State from 1999-2008 and was at the MSU helm the last time the Bears visited Cape Girardeau.
