CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Jarekious Bradley buried the game-winning jumper with 0.8 seconds on the clock to send Southeast Missouri (5-4) to a 55-54 win over regional-rival Southern Illinois (5-4) Wednesday night in a barn-burner at the Show Me Center.

The game came down to the final shot between these longstanding rivals that met for the 114th time tonight.

SIU held a 54-51 edge after Anthony Beane knocked down a three-pointer with 51 seconds remaining. Following a missed free throw by Antonius Cleveland and a missed three by Beane, Southeast opted to play for a three-point shot.

Instead, Jamaal Calvin was fouled and calmly went to the free throw line to sink a couple free throws, making it a 54-53 game with five seconds on the clock.

On the ensuing play, Sean O'Brien turned the ball over and Nino Johnson came up with the loose ball. The ball was knocked away from Johnson and SIU took possession, but was whistled for a backcourt violation.

Isiah Jones, guarded by seven-footer Deng Leek, inbounded the ball to Bradley. Bradley immediately turned on the baseline and launched his shot over a fully extended Jalen Pendleton to score the game-winner at the buzzer.

Bradley's clutch shot sent Southeast's season-high home crowd of 3,507 into an uproar and put the finishing touches on a huge second half for the Redhawks.

"This was a good night for us," said Southeast head coach Dickey Nutt. "It's a natural rivalry and I thought both teams played well. I thought we controlled the game in the second half and were able to keep our composure."

Bradley missed four-straight field goals in the second half prior to his game-winner. His only points in the final period before that shot were a pair of free throws which tied the game at 41-41 with 10:39 left.

Johnson broke free and threw down a massive dunk off a Jones pass to give the Redhawks a 45-44 lead. Southeast then stretched its lead to four (50-46) when Cleveland nailed a three at the 6:45 mark.

SIU countered with four-straight points to knot the game at 50-50 with 3:10 remaining and again went ahead on Beane's jumper 21 seconds later.

Southeast then made its strong push by scoring five of the game's last seven points to get by the Salukis.

SIU led by as many as 13 points (31-18) with 3:26 left in the first half and held a slight 33-29 edge at the intermission.

Bradley, who scored double figures for the seventh-straight time this season, finished with 17 points on 5-of-13 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws. He also had six rebounds and dished out three assists in 34 minutes.

Aaron Adeoye followed with 14 points and Jones added 10 points and five boards off the bench. Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds and gathered a game-high four blocks and three steals, as well.

Both teams shot under 40 percent from the field. Southeast made 18-of-46 for 39.1 percent and SIU hit 20-of-57 for 35.1 percent. Additionally, the Redhawks registered seven blocks.

The Salukis, who buried five threes in the first half, made just one (1-of-6) in the second.

Beane led all scorers with a game-high 22 points.

Southeast ended a five-game losing streak in its all-time series against SIU. Tonight's win was also Nutt's first against a Missouri Valley Conference opponent.

The Redhawks, who have won seven-straight at home dating back to last season, host in-state rival Missouri State Saturday. Tip-off is set for 6:07 p.m., CT.
