CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A 15-0 run in the second half was the difference for Austin Peay (8-8, 2-0) which came from behind to beat Southeast Missouri (8-7, 0-2), 80-74, Saturday night in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Dunn Center.

APSU, which trailed by 15 points with 9:34 left in the first half, cashed in on a stretch of 4:55 where Southeast did not score. The Redhawks led, 52-50, following a Darrian Gray layup with 12:35 left to play before APSU countered with 15 unanswered points to take control.

Travis Betran jumpstarted the surge with back-to-back three-pointers and hit the go-ahead three to give the Governors their first lead of the game at 54-52 at the 11:30 mark. Betran then dialed up from long distance again to widen APSU's lead to five and the Governors never looked back.

Southeast committed four turnovers and missed three shots, including two from behind the arc during the big run that put APSU ahead, 65-52, with just under eight minutes left.

Jarekious Bradley's three-pointer later pulled Southeast to within four (72-68) with 3:08 on the clock, but that was as close as it would get.

The Redhawks turned the ball over 11 times during a second half which got away after a strong start.

"We are disappointed. I thought we played well for the first 20 minutes and then let the gate open," said Southeast head coach Dickey Nutt. "We didn't play well defensively and turned the ball over on some crucial possessions. We have a good team and we just have to fix some things."

Southeast heated up to make six of its first eight field goals and was shooting just under 70 percent (69.2) by the game's second media timeout.

After Damarius Smith's jumper cut Southeast's lead to 14-10 with 14:21 left to play in the first half, the Redhawks went on a 13-2 run to take a 15-point advantage. APSU missed four field goals, turned the ball over twice and missed two free throws in that stretch.

Bradley scored eight-straight points and made back-to-back three-pointers to key the surge that ended on his own three from the left corner.

APSU managed to chop Southeast's lead to single digits on Chris Horton's two free throws with 5:53 on the clock. Following a Southeast turnover and miss, Horton scored twice more, this time on a layup and dunk, to narrow the lead to five (30-25).

Tyler Stone and Bradley responded with layups to widen Southeast's lead to nine before APSU scored six-straight points to make it a 34-31 game. Chris Freeman knocked down a jumper and Betran added a three-pointer. Horton's free throw came after that, as Southeast went into the locker room with a 38-33 cushion.

Southeast shot 54.8 percent (17-of-31), its best first half field goal percentage since the Redhawks made 56 percent (14-of-25) of their attempts vs. Texas State (Dec. 1). That was also the last time Southeast held a lead at the intermission prior to tonight.

Bradley netted a game and career-high 30 points, becoming Southeast's first 30-point scorer this season. He shot 11-of-19 from the field and buried 6-of-10 from long range. Bradley also made 2-of-2 free throws and grabbed five rebounds before fouling out after playing 33 minutes. It was the second-straight game Bradley exited with five fouls.

"Jarekious is an outstanding player," commented Nutt. "He really helped us set the tone early."

Stone was Southeast's other double-digit scorer, who contributed a double-double 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Stone made 12-consecutive starts before coming off the bench for the first time this season.

Southeast, which was outscored 47-36 in the second half, shot 50 percent (29-of-58) for the game and outrebounded the Governors, 35-28.

Four APSU players put up double figures in the scoring column, led by Horton's double-double 21 points and 12 boards. Horton made a near-perfect 7-of-8 free throws and gathered a game-high three blocks, as well.

Betran pitched in 16 points, while Will Triggs poured in 14 and Zavion Williams dropped in 12.

APSU, which entered the game as the third worst free throw shooting team in the OVC, made 72.7 percent (16-of-22) of its free throws in the second half. The Governors finished at 21-of-31 at the line, shooting 16 more free throws than Southeast (9-of-15).

Southeast returns to Cape Girardeau to host Belmont on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., CT, at the Show Me Center.
