Baseball Hosts Memphis in Regular Season Finale

The Redhawks will honor four seniors and former head coach Mark Hogan on Saturday

The Redhawks host Memphis as the two teams will meet for the first time since 2008.

Setting the Table
The Southeast Missouri baseball team hosts Conference USA foe Memphis this weekend at Capaha Field in their regular season finale. Action starts on Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. start followed by another 7:00 p.m. start on Friday. On Saturday the Redhawks will honor their four seniors as well as former head coach Mark Hogan before the game against the Tigers.

Steve Bieser Named Head Coach
Southeast Missouri Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt named Steve Bieser the head baseball coach at Southeast Missouri State University on Wednesday. Bieser served as the Redhawks interim head coach since July 30, 2012.

Senior Day
Southeast Missouri will honor four seniors on Saturday afternoon as they will play their final game at Capaha Field. The four seniors for the Redhawks are Bobby Hurst, Trevor Kill, Zack Smith and Tony Zerrusen. All four players are in their second season with the Redhawks.

Redhawks Clinch Berth in OVC Tournament
The Southeast Missouri baseball team has clinched the sixth seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament set to be played May 22-26. The event will return to The Ballpark at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park) in Jackson, Tenn. for the fourth-straight year in 2013. The Redhawks will make their OVC Record 19th consecutive appearance in the tournament.

Redhawks Against Tigers
The Memphis Tigers hold a 30-21 record in the all-time series against the Redhawks that dates back to 1960. The last time the two teams met was 2008 as the Redhawks took two-of-three games in Memphis.

Capital One Academic All-District
Southeast Missouri baseball players Jason Blum, Derek Gibson and Dalton Hewitt were named Capital One Academic All-District ® Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Preseason OVC Polls
The Southeast Missouri Baseball team was picked eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Austin Peay, the OVC Co-Regular season and tournament champions in back-to-back seasons were picked to win the league with 14 first place votes. Southeast Missouri junior left fielder Derek Gibson was named Preseason All-OVC after earning First-Team All-OVC last season by the coaches and sports information directors in the OVC.
