Quick Tips
Homestand Continues
Southeast Missouri (11-13, 3-7) resumes its its three-game homestand when it plays host to SIU Edwardsville (8-11, 4-5) Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., CT, at the Show Me Center.
Wild, Wild, West
Southeast begins round two of its Ohio Valley Conference West Division schedule against SIUE Thursday. The Redhawks are currently in a three-way tie for third in their division. Southeast, Eastern Illinois and UT Martin all have 3-7 league records. Overall, the Redhawks are eighth in the OVC with a .300 conference winning percentage entering their last six league contests.
Record Chaser
Marland Smith, who ranks second all-time at Southeast in career three-point field goals made, needs just three more to break the school record. Smith has 217 three-pointers and is chasing Derek Winans who knocked down 219 treys from 2001-05.
Niemczyk Doubtful for Thursday
Senior guard
Nick Niemczyk is doubtful for Thursday's game against SIUE. Niemczyk sprained his left ankle during the team's practice on Feb. 4.
Series History
The Redhawks are 13-5 all-time in their series against SIUE. Southeast has won six of its last eight meetings with the Cougars. SIUE snapped a four-game losing streak in the series when it beat the Redhawks, 80-77, at the Vadalabene Center on Jan. 24.
Wilford Does it Again
Corey Wilford scored 20 or more points in each of his last three starts. Wilford recently dropped in a career-high 27 against Eastern Kentucky (Feb. 2). Before that, he pitched in 21 points at SIU Edwardsville (Jan. 24) and 20 points at Eastern Illinois (Jan. 26). He heated up to shoot 25-of-46 (54.3 percent) from the field, 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) from three-point range and a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line over that stretch. Wilford scored double figures in four-straight games and seven of his 10 Ohio Valley Conference starts. He is the first Redhawk to score 20 or more points three games in a row this season and first among active players to accomplish the feat since
Marland Smith scored 21 vs. UMKC, 22 vs. SMU and 21 at Sacramento State during the 2011-12 campaign.
Free Throw Streak
Corey Wilford has made 13-consecutive free throws dating back to Southeast's game at Tennessee State (Jan. 12). Wilford made his last free throw against the Tigers and hasn't missed in 12 attempts since then. His seven free throws made against Eastern Kentucky (Feb. 2) were a career-high.
Let's Make a Run
Southeast is looking to bounce back after losing seven of its last eight games. The Redhawks are on a three-game losing streak for the third time this season and second in the January-February part of the schedule. Southeast last won against Tennessee Tech (74-62) on Jan. 19 at the Show Me Center.
