CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -
Tyler Stone scored 30 points to lead Southeast Missouri to an 88-75 win over Ouachita Baptist Saturday night in its exhibition finale at the Show Me Center.
Stone dropped in 18 of his points in the first half and wound up shooting 11-of-17 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line on the night. He also had four rebounds, two assists, a block and three steals in 32 minutes.
Southeast started strong knocking down 11 of its first 12 field goals of the game.
Southeast and OBU were later tied 12-12 when the Redhawks went on a 21-4 run to build a 17-point lead with 9:44 left to play in the first half.
Jarekious Bradley scored five points and capped the run with a jumper to give Southeast a 33-16 advantage. Stone also scored five points during that surge.
The Redhawks later led 46-32 at the half.
A.J. Jones' three-pointer gave Southeast its biggest lead of the night at 59-35 with 17:12 left to play before OBU made things interesting.
"We got up 24 points and got comfortable," said Southeast head coach
Dickey Nutt. "I was glad some adversity hit us tonight. We had some foul trouble and played through it. I thought our guys did a good job of keeping their composure."
The Tigers managed to dice the Redhawks lead to 73-68 on David Day's jumper with 6:29 remaining. That, however, was as close as OBU would get.
Southeast then outscored OBU 15-7 down the stretch to close out its 88-75 win.
The Redhawks shot 55.6 percent (30-of-54) from the field.
Antonius Cleveland, Jones,
Lucas Nutt and
Nino Johnson also joined Stone with double figures in the scoring column.
Cleveland followed with 12 points, five rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals, while Jones, Nutt and Johnson chipped in 10 points each.
Micah Delph led all OBU scorers with 19 points, while Colt Fason added a double-double 18 points and 13 rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded Southeast, 35-29, as well.
Southeast, which went 2-0 in exhibition play, opens its season at Saint Louis on Nov. 8.
