Southeast Heating Up
The Redhawks enter Saturday's clash on a season-long four-game winning streak after ringing in the New Year with an 86-84 win over Austin Peay (Jan. 3). Southeast, which opened 2012-13 with winning records in back-to-back months for the first time under head coach Dickey Nutt, started January with a win for the third-straight year. The Redhawks have won seven of their last nine contests and presently own the Ohio Valley Conference's longest winning streak.

Series History
Saturday marks the 64th meeting between Southeast and Murray State. The Racers hold a 46-18 record in the all-time series. Murray State won 10 of the last 11 meetings between these teams, with its only loss during that stretch coming in Cape Girardeau (64-57) on Feb. 16, 2011. The Racers are 8-1 in their last nine trips to the Show Me Center. Murray State beat Southeast twice last season.

Guards Step Up in Latest Win
Guards Corey Wilford, A.J. Jones and Lucas Nutt combined for 49 points to lead Southeast to a thrilling 86-84 win over Austin Peay (Jan. 3). The Redhawks handed the Governors their seventh loss in a row. Southeast's perimeter players came up big after Tyler Stone fouled out of the game. Stone, the team's top scorer, picked up his fifth foul with 7:50 left to play. Wilford led the Redhawks with 19 points, while Jones followed with 16 and Nutt added 14. Southeast's guards accounted for a total of 68 points, 79 percent of the Redhawks scoring output against the Govs.

Southeast Gets 10th Victory
Southeast is 10-6 overall and undefeated at 2-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference halfway through the 2012-13 season. That mark is the Redhawks best under head coach Dickey Nutt through the first 16 games of a season. Southeast is currently one of five teams in the OVC with 10 or more victories. Jacksonville State (10-4), Eastern Kentucky (11-3), Belmont (10-4) and Murray State (10-3) are the others.

Show Me Showdown
The Racers and Redhawks were picked first and second, respectively, in the West Division of this year's Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Saturday is Southeast's third-straight divisional game. The Redhawks step outside of the West Division for the first time when they travel to Belmont (Jan. 10) and Tennessee State (Jan. 12) next week. Murray State comes to Cape Girardeau after winning seven of its last nine games. The Racers, however, suffered losses in two of their last three contests, but boast a 4-1 record on the road.
