Quick Tips
Redhawks Will Wear White
Thursday's matchup between Southeast and SIU Edwardsville will be a “red out” at the Vadalabene Center. That being said, the Redhawks will wear their home white uniforms instead of their traditional red jerseys for that game.
Welcome to the Broadcast
KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman will join Erik Sean on the radio for Thursday's game at SIUE. Ackerman will provide color commentary as a special guest on the broadcast. Ackerman oversees a department that serves as the flagship station for the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He has held play-by-play duties for University of Missouri men's basketball, worked the sidelines on Mizzou football broadcasts, and hosted pregame and postgame shows for the Cardinals and Blues. Ackerman also calls television play-by-play of Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball and football.
Back to Work
Southeast returns to inner-divisional play when it squares off against SIUE (Jan. 24) and Eastern Illinois (Jan. 26) this week. The Redhawks have not played an opponent from their own division since Jan. 5 (Murray State). Southeast faced an East Division foe in each of its last four games, going 1-3 in those contests. The Redhawks are currently second in the West behind Murray State, holding a 2-1 record versus teams on their side of the Ohio Valley Conference.
Redhawks Get Back on Track
The Redhawks snapped a season-long four-game losing streak when they beat Tennessee Tech, 74-62, on Jan. 19. Southeast used a 20-4 run to help build a double-digit halftime lead (36-23). After TTU managed to pull to within six with 9:55 left to play, the Redhawks answered with a 10-3 jaunt to pull away for good. The losing streak was the longest since Southeast dropped six in a row during the 2010-11 season (Jan. 13-29).
Series History
Southeast is 13-4 all-time against SIUE. The Redhawks are 6-1 in their last seven meetings with the Cougars and hold a four-game winning streak in the series. Southeast is 2-0 against SIUE on the road under head coach
Dickey Nutt, beating the Cougars, 85-72, on Feb. 11, 2012 and, 83-63, on Feb. 7, 2011.
Nutt Moves Closer to 100 Assists
Lucas Nutt, who leads the team and ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 93 assists is on pace to get 100 in a season for the second time in his career. Nutt is averaging 4.4 assists per game through 21 starts. He last had 100 or more assists during the 2010-11 campaign (112). Nutt is currently sixth all-time at Southeast with 334 career assists.
Undefeated vs. SIUE
Southeast head coach
Dickey Nutt is a perfect 4-0 against SIUE. All of those wins were by double-digits. The Redhawks averaged over 80 points per game (80.3) in each of their victories over the Cougars with Nutt as their coach.
Looking for First OVC Road Win
The Redhawks are 0-2 in Ohio Valley Conference play on the road this season. Thursday marks the first time Southeast faces a West Division opponent away from home. The Redhawks lost on the road against the East Division's top two teams -- Belmont (107-72); Tennessee State (81-69).
