Quick Tips

Redhawks Head to Windy City
Southeast Missouri (3-3) will play at Illinois-Chicago (3-1) two days after the Thanksgiving holiday Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m., CT, at UIC Pavilion.

Road Stretch Continues
Saturday's matinee will mark Southeast's fourth-straight game away from home. The Redhawks recently finished their in-season CBE Classic with a record of 1-2 earlier in the week. Southeast beat Chattanooga (Nov. 18) and lost to both Louisiana Tech (Nov. 19) and Troy (Nov. 20) at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Redhawks are currently 1-3 outside of Cape Girardeau this year.

Two-Game Skid
Southeast looks to snap a two-game losing streak when it meets Horizon League member Illinois-Chicago for the first time Saturday. The Redhawks lost back-to-back games by no more than four points. Southeast fell to Louisiana Tech, 67-63, on Nov. 19 and lost to Troy, 59-56, on Nov. 20 in those matchups

Redhawks Lose in Final Seconds
The Redhawks wrapped up the CBE Classic with a 59-56 loss to Troy University on Nov. 20. Corey Wilford drained a three-pointer to tie the game at 56-56 with 42 seconds left before Troy's Antoine Myers completed a three-point play with six seconds on the clock. Myers drove the lane hard to his right and banked in his shot high off the glass in heavy traffic to give the Trojans the lead. He was fouled on the play and later hit his free throw. Lucas Nutt's desperation three-pointer from the top of the key fell short on Southeast's final possession.

Series History
Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between Southeast and Illinois-Chicago. UIC is the fourth different opponent the Redhawks face for the first time this season. Southeast also played Kansas (Nov. 9), Lyon College (Nov. 12) and Chattanooga (Nov. 18) for the first time in 2012-13.

Wilford Explodes
Corey Wilford erupted to score double figures in three-straight games off the at the CBE Classic. Wilford scored a career-high 21 points, all of which came in the second half, to key Southeast's win at Chattanooga (Nov. 18). A day later, he pitched in 16 points in 29 minutes against Louisiana Tech. Wilford then followed that up with 20 points, including 19 in the second half, against Troy (Nov. 20). He averaged 19 points and 4.3 rebounds per game at the CBE Classic. Wilford also shot 44.7 percent (17-of-38) from the field, 68.4 percent (13-of-19) at the free throw line and 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from three-point range. Five of his three-pointers came in the second half against Troy, where he tied the game twice.

Wilford Earns First Start of the Season
Corey Wilford's ferocious three-game stretch at the CBE Classic earned him a spot in the starting lineup. Wilford is expected to make his first start of the season and second of his career when Southeast plays at Illinois-Chicago Saturday. Wilford last started at Tennessee Tech on Jan. 21, 2012. He went scoreless on 0-of-4 field goals in 12 minutes during that game.

100th Career Game Approaches for Smith
Senior guard Marland Smith will play in his 100th career game at Illinois-Chicago Saturday. Smith has played in every game of his Southeast career. He is averaging nine points and 5.2 rebounds per game in six games and three starts this season. Smith has played in 99 games and started 80 contests since joining the Redhawks in 2009-10.

Three-Point Barrage
Southeast buried a season-high 11 three-pointers, including eight in the second half against Troy (Nov. 20). The Redhawks made 40.7 (11-of-27) of their three-point attempts. Southeast had made no more than eight treys prior to that game.

Block Party
Southeast forward Nino Johnson leads the Ohio Valley Conference with 16 blocks in six starts this season. Johnson, who ranks third on the team in scoring with 11.5 points and second in rebounding with nine boards per game, has had multiple blocks in five of his first six contests. He finished with a season-high five swats against Louisiana Tech (Nov. 19) and is averaging 2.7 blocks per game.

Stone Doubles Up
Tyler Stone, who leads Southeast in scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (9.5 rpg), has registered a double-double in each of his last three starts. Stone leads the Ohio Valley Conference in rebounding and ranks ninth in scoring. He has scored double figures in five-straight games and has nine double-doubles in his career. This is also the first time Stone has had a double-double in three-consecutive games in his career.
