Interesting Storyline
Bradley hosts a NCAA Division I opponent in a regular-season game on its campus for the first time since 1981-82. Southeast will play the Braves in the Renaissance Coliseum. The $50 million venue opened for the 2010-11 season and was designed to serve as the home court for Bradley women's basketball and volleyball teams, though the men's basketball team has played two preseason exhibition games there. The Braves will play the rest of their home games at Carver Arena this season. Bradley will honor its 1981-82 team at halftime of Wednesday's game.
Series History
Southeast is 2-5 all-time against Bradley and 1-5 versus the Braves in Peoria. The first game of the series was also played on Bradley's campus, Dec. 4, 1976, with BU winning by a score of 119-80 at Robertson Fieldhouse. The Braves have won three-straight against the Redhawks at Carver Arena.
Against the Missouri Valley Conference
The Redhawks are 102-181 (.360) all-time against the Missouri Valley Conference. Southeast last faced a MVC opponent last season when it fell to Southern Illinois, 83-68, in Carbondale.
Redhawks Get First Win
Southeast picked up its first win of the season when it beat NAIA Harris-Stowe, 95-60, Monday night at the Show Me Center. The Redhawks man-handled the Hornets to a 60-26 advantage inside the paint. Southeast played its entire roster in that game.
Powell Impressive in his Return
Leon Powell scored a game-high 21 points in just 16 minutes off the bench against Harris-Stowe (Nov. 14). Powell, who missed the Redhawks season-opener at No. 25 Missouri (Nov. 11) with a knee injury, shot a perfect 8-of-8 from the field and grabbed four rebounds. He is expected to make his first start of the season against Bradley Wednesday. In addition, Powell needs just 27 more points to get 500 in his Southeast career.
Johnson Off to a Strong Start in Rookie Campaign
True freshman
Nino Johnson scored 11 points off the bench in each of his first two games at Southeast. Johnson shot 5-of-7 from the field against both Missouri (Nov. 11) and Harris-Stowe (Nov. 14). He also had six assists, three blocks and three dunks over that two-game span. Johnson, who is averaging 20 minutes per game off the bench, is a four-star recruit out of White Station High School in Memphis, Tenn.
