CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerova were selected as All-OVC players, the league announced Thursday morning.
Bajorek was selected to the first team All-OVC and Mayerova was cited on the second team All-OVC.
Bajorek went 2-2 in her OVC matches playing all four in the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Her wins included a 7-6, 7-5 battle against Southern Indiana's Antonia Ferrarini on March 28
th who was also selected as a first team player. She also picked up a win over Western Illinois No. 1 player Chloe Routier 6-3, 6-3 on April 4
th. She also battled with OVC Player of the Year Margaux Guibal Britt from SIUE but fell in a tight match 6-4, 6-4.
Mayerova finished the OVC slate 4-1 playing nearly every spot in the lineup. She played matches at Nos. 1-5 in OVC play. In her four wins three came in straight sets including a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 against USI, a 6-3, 6-3 win against Megan Caffin from Lindenwood and a 6-4, 6-1 in at No. 1 singles against Tennessee State. She also added a come-from-behind three set match wins against Richardlyne Francois when she won 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Bajorek and Mayerova will lead the Redhawks in the OVC Tournament which starts Friday at noon against Southern Indiana.
