Redhawks Trek to Tennessee Tech for OVC Weekend
Southeast Missouri Baseball (26-11, 8-4 OVC) will continue its road swing this weekend when they take on Tennessee Tech (12-25, 2-10 OVC) in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Redhawks will play a three-game series with TTU on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 17-19. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m., 2 p.m., and 1 p.m., respectively, from Bush Stadium in Cookeville, Tenn. 
 
Sawyers vs. TTU
The Redhawks and Golden Eagles will meet for the 28^th, 29^th, and 30^th times under 10^th year Head Coach Andy Sawyers. SEMO is currently 11-16 under Sawyers against TTU with the last win coming during the 2024 season with a 4-1 victory in Cookeville. SEMO is on a five-game losing streak to TTU as the Golden Eagles won the series in 2024 and swept SEMO in 2025. 
 
Run Rule Tuesday
SEMO Baseball picked up its 26^th win of the season in seven innings on Tuesday evening with a 12-1 dismantling of Murray State in Murray, Ky. The Redhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening frame with an RBI walk from Andrew Ramirez and a two-out, two-RBI single from third baseman Carson Schrack. Another RBI single from Ramirez in the second inning gave SEMO a 4-0 advantage after the first two innings. RHP JoJo Keldsen (1-0) who made his first career start in a SEMO uniform pitched lights out as he allowed just three hits and no runs over 4.0 innings. A two-run bomb from Cal Sullivan in the fourth inning extended SEMO's lead to 6-0. For Sullivan, the blast was his team-leading 11^th bomb of the season. The Redhawks blew the game wide open in the seventh inning with a six-run frame highlighted by four, RBI singles and an RBI double that gave SEMO an 11-run lead. 
 
Racer Beatdown
Tuesday's victory completed the season sweep of regional rival Murray State. The Redhawks dominated MSU in both games this season allowing the Racers just two runs over two games. Conversely, SEMO scored 20 runs on 21 hits over the two games and did not record an error in either contest. 
 
League Standings
The weekend series at Tennessee Tech begins the second half of Ohio Valley Conference play. The Redhawks, who are 8-4 in OVC play, comes into the series in third place and are just two games back of league leaders Eastern Illinois (10-2) and SIUE (10-2). SEMO is tied for third with Little Rock (8-4) followed by a three-way tie between Lindenwood, Morehead State, and UT Martin who are all 5-7 in conference action.
 
D(ouble)H
Designated hitter Joe Hall was a doubles machine on Tuesday evening as he recorded a pair of doubles for the second time in the same game this season. He drove in an RBI with his second double of the day for SEMO's 10^th run. Hall leads the club with 12 doubles after Tuesday's performance. 
 
Free Bases
SEMO Baseball ranks atop the Ohio Valley Conference in drawing walks in 2026 with 172 through 37 games. Second baseman Brooks Kettering, who has led the program in walks his first two seasons, continues to lead the team with 26 walks. Caleb Klein and Cal Sullivan are tied for second with 21 walks apiece, followed by Ryan Lopetegui with 15. 
 
Always Scores
Center fielder Caleb Klein has an uncanny ability of getting on base and coming around to score this season having scored 48 runs through 37 games. He ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference in runs scored and is 13^th in all of Division I baseball. He also leads the team in on-base percentage at a .473 mark. 
 
Over .300
The Redhawks enter the weekend with eight players hitting .300 or higher this season through 37 games. Joe Hall is the leader in the clubhouse with an impressive .357 batting average, one point above Caleb Klein (.356). Dakota Joggerst (.355), Carson Schrack (.351), and Cal Sullivan (.346) round out the top five in the SEMO lineup for batting average. As a team, SEMO is hitting .310 which ranks third in the league and 26^th in the country. 
 
Friday Guy
RHP Mason Pennington has settled into his starting role as the Redhawks primary Friday night pitcher. The senior from Collinsville, Oklahoma has started nine games this season for the Redhawks which is the best in the OVC and ranks 14^thin the country. He is 5-2 on the season with a 3.59 ERA and ranks first in K/BB ratio (4.42), second in strikeouts (53), and first in K/9 (10.01) in the Ohio Valley Conference. 
 
Big Slugger
First baseman Cal Sullivan leads the Redhawks in slugging-percentage and ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference with a .677 mark through 37 games. Of his 46 hits, 11 of them are doubles and 11 of them are home runs. He ranks second on the team in doubles and first in home runs in 2026. 
 
Another Triple
Center fielder Caleb Klein recorded his team-leading third triple on Tuesday night at Murray State. Klein, who came into the game with two on the season, led off the second inning with his third triple of the season. He ranks third in the OVC and 37^th in the nation in triples following his performance on Tuesday. He is just one behind Jorsixt Jimenez and Brett Stanley of TTU and EIU, respectively, in the league. 
 
You Can't Strike Him Out
Short stop Andrew Ramirez is one of the toughest hitters to strike out in the entire country. Ramirez, who has struck out just five times this season in 115 at bats, ranks first in the Ohio Valley Conference and second in the nation. Ramirez is averaging one strike out for every 23 at-bats this season.
